NHL Shot Prop Predictions

Nikita Kucherov Over 3.5 shots (+100 via BetMGM) ★★★

This is second half of a back-to-back on the road for the Oilers. They’ve surrendered the 10th-most shot attempts and sixth-most shots on goal per 60 minutes in the league. Kucherov has also shown an uptick in shot volume over has past four games.

Kucherov has 18 shots and 30 attempts during the noted four-game stretch. His year-long per 60 minutes metrics are actually still slightly below his numbers from last season. He registered a team-high 9.97 shots and 17.63 attempts per hour during the 2021-22 campaign compared to 9.15 and 16.95 marks, respectively, through 12 games this season.

Mitchell Marner Over 2.5 shots (+100 via BetMGM) ★★★

Marner has registered only a single shot and four attempts over the Toronto Maple Leafs' past two contests. However, Toronto faced the Boston Bruins and Carolina Hurricanes in those two games. Carolina paces the NHL in Corsi For percentage at five-on-five while allowing the fewest shot attempts per 60 minutes. Boston ranks seventh in both statistics.

With the Vegas Golden Knights ranking 18th and 25th in the respective metrics, Marner is positioned for a rebound showing in the shots column Tuesday. He had recorded 10 shots and 19 attempts through the prior three games and cleared the 2.5-shot total in each game.

Filip Forsberg Over 3.5 shots (+105 via DraftKings) ★★

Nashville Predators winger Filip Forsberg cleared this 3.5-shot total in four of his past five games and paces the team in shots and attempts per 60 minutes for the campaign. Additionally, he’s also skyrocketed to 15.92 shots and 24.23 attempts per hour through the past five games after recording already high-end 9.89 and 21.87 marks, respectively, over seven contests to start the year.

It’s important to note the Seattle Kraken have excelled at suppressing opposing shot volume to start the season with the fourth-fewest shot attempts allowed per 60 minutes. Still, I consider the potentially tough matchup more than priced into the +105 odds available via DraftKings.
