NHL best bet today
Flames +1.5 (-124 via FanDuel)
Despite the chasm in talent, the Flames have held their own in the Battle of Alberta. Calgary has covered the spread in four of the last five games against the Oilers, including three wins straight up.
Calgary will have a significant goaltending advantage with Devin Cooley in net, compared to the Oilers' Tristan Jarry - one of the league's worst netminders going back to last season.
Cooley has recently been the talk of the hockey world with his quirky soundbites and phenomenal play in the crease. He's led the Flames to four straight victories, in which he hasn't given up more than two goals in any appearance.
I feel confident backing the Flames to cover the 1.5-goal spread at any odds better than -130 at the best sports betting sites. I bet at FanDuel's -124 price tag.
📡 SBR Edge: Oilers overvalued at home
The Oilers are 2-5 against the spread when playing in Edmonton this season.

Maple Leafs vs. Kraken Over 6.5 (-118 via BetMGM)
This is my favorite Over/Under bet of the day, featuring two top-seven scoring clubs that are hamstrung by vulnerable defenses.
The Kraken are the league's No. 1 Over team, with a 9-4 Over/Under record. The Maple Leafs aren't far behind at 9-5, but what really caught my eye is Toronto's road record. All six Maple Leafs road games have totaled at least seven goals this season.
I'm backing that trend to continue in Seattle by betting a half-unit on this game to finish Over 6.5 goals. There's value on that line up to -122 odds.
Easton Cowan 1+ points (+105 via bet365)
Given that I expect at least seven total goals in Maple Leafs vs. Kraken, there will be plenty of points to account for on the score sheet. I'm backing Toronto forward Easton Cowan, who is coming into his own in his second NHL season, to be among that group. He has tallied at least one point in eight of his last 10 games.
Cowan is making the most of his ice time playing alongside Toronto superstar Auston Matthews, but what's most impressive is he's continued to produce even when he's split up from the captain.
I bet Cowan to finish with at least one point at bet365's +105 odds, but there's value paying up to -110.
