An Atlantic Division rivalry will renew on Wednesday when the Boston Bruins battle the Buffalo Sabres amid a busy night of NHL action, as we make our Bruins vs. Sabres NHL player props are based on the best NHL odds.

The Christmas break couldn't have come soon enough for the Bruins, who have lost four in a row and dropped six of their last eight. Nevertheless, they remain atop the Atlantic Division and are still in striking distance of the No. 1 overall seed thanks to a hot start to the 2023-24 season.

The Sabres, meanwhile, dropped three of four prior to the holiday pause to fall to 14-21 SU. They are ahead of only the Senators in the division. They're getting some of the worst goaltending in the NHL, making things interesting for prop players entering Wednesday's clash.

Here are our best Bruins vs. Sabres NHL player props and NHL picks (odds via our  best NHL betting sites; pick confidence based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Bruins vs. Sabres NHL player props

Tage Thompson anytime goal (+185 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Thompson has missed nine games this season, yet he's tied for fourth on the Sabres in goals (nine) and is just five off the team lead currently enjoyed by Jeff Skinner. We're getting a great price on Thompson to score a goal tonight, so let's take advantage with a four-star play.

Thompson led Buffalo in goals with 47 last year, 20 of which came on the power play. The Boston penalty kill is in a slump, dipping from 85% to 79% across the team's last 10 games, so the Sabres sniper could find his opportunity there.

Thompson's shooting percentage on the year is 10.1%, down from over 15% each of the last two seasons. He's scored just three times in December despite taking 37 shots. His puck luck is due to improve soon, and it could be against a Bruins side that's allowed 3.25 goals per game over its last eight tilts. Thompson found the twine in his most recent meeting with Boston on Dec. 7.

FanDuel is offering by far the best price on this prop across our best sports betting apps, with the next-best offer coming in at +170 from BetMGM. If this line gets lower than +170, it might be wise to pivot to Thompson Over 3.5 shots on goal at +124 via DraftKings.

Rasmus Dahlin Over 2.5 shots on goal (-105 at BetMGM) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Dahlin has scored in each of his last three contests, marking just the second time in his career he's gone on such a streak. The other time was a five-game streak to start the 2022-23 campaign, when he cleared 2.5 shots on goal in four of five contests. He would start that year with at least three shots on net in 13 of 15 games.

It goes to show that Dahlin is a player that thrives on confidence. So while I'm not bullish on him potting a goal for a fourth straight game, I do think Dahlin will keep shooting for one vs. a Bruins defense that's allowed the fifth-most shots per game since Thanksgiving (33.6). He's got 41 shots on goal through 11 December games, going Over 2.5 all but once.

Most of our best sports betting sites are dangling this Over at -110, with some at -120. But -105 can be found at both BetMGM and DraftKings as of Wednesday afternoon.

Charlie Coyle Under 0.5 points (-135 via DraftKings) ⭐⭐⭐

Coyle is on pace for 53 points this season, which would be the second-highest mark of his career. Yet sportsbooks are pricing his points prop at minus-odds to the Under, and it's easy to see why.

The Bruins veteran has failed to find the scoresheet in six straight games and 10 of his last 12 overall. His road splits do not inspire confidence, as he's tallied just eight points over 17 contests.

The price we're getting at DraftKings is slightly better than the going rate at our best sportsbooks of -140, so we'll make this a three-star play.
