Two Super Bowl favorites square off in an early season battle. Here are our top Thursday Night Football prop picks and the Kansas City Chiefs host the rival Los Angeles Chargers.

With a projected total of 54 points, this Thursday Night Football game should feature plenty of yards which provides plenty of value in the prop bet market. Two of the best offenses in the game give us plenty of options to choose from for our picks this week. As an added bonus, a strong defensive front gives us a fun edge to bet.

TNF Prop Predictions

Herbert Over 302.5 pass + rush yards (-115)

Herbert has four career regular-season starts against Kansas City. In two of the four, he surpassed this total. He passed this mark in passing yardage alone in each of those matchups.

The Chiefs did well to hold Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray to only 222 total yards last week. However, Kansas City allowed seven quarterbacks to reach this prop total last season.

Last week, Herbert combined for 280 yards against the Las Vegas Raiders with just a single yard on the ground on four carries.

Smith-Schuster longest reception Over 20.5 yards

In his Kansas City debut, wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster recorded a long reception of 20 yards. Last season, he recorded a longest reception of 20 yards in just one game across an injury-hampered campaign with the Pittsburgh Steelers. However, in 2020, Smith Schuster had a catch of more than 20.5 yards in eight games.

His new quarterback, Patrick Mahomes, has had only two games in his entire career in which he failed to complete a pass for 21 yards or more. Last week, he connected with tight end Travis Kelce for a 35-yard passing play.

Mack Over 0.75 sacks (+130)

Chargers edge rusher Khalil Mack made quite the first impression in Los Angeles last week. The former Las Vegas Raiders defender sacked former teammate Derek Carr three times in the Chargers' win over Las Vegas. Mack recorded at least one sack in each game between Week 2 and Week 6 with the Chicago Bears last season before his injury.

This week, Mack will be chasing Mahomes, who suffered at least one sack in all but three games last season. In Kansas City’s three playoff games, Mahomes was sacked a total of nine times. The Chargers were responsible for three sacks in their two games against the Chiefs last season.

Mack has one career sack on Mahomes. With the Chiefs' questionable offensive line having to concentrate on both Mack and Joey Bosa, expect the offseason addition to record another sack Thursday night.
