After watching their AFC West rivals the Los Angeles Chargers and Denver Broncos make blockbuster additions this offseason, the Las Vegas Raiders made their own big splash, trading for star wide receiver Davante Adams. How have the Raiders' odds been affected?

The Green Bay Packers have traded wide receiver Davante Adams to the Las Vegas Raiders in exchange for first and second-round picks in the 2022 draft.

Here's a closer look at the deal and how it affects Super Bowl and division odds for the Raiders and Packers.

Las Vegas Raiders

Davante Adams is a 29-year-old who's among the NFL's premier receivers. In the past four seasons, Adams has accumulated 432 receptions on 614 targets for 5,310 yards and 47 touchdowns over 57 games across the last four seasons. He's been a first-team All-Pro in each of the past two campaigns.

The Raiders making a bold move for a wide receiver isn't surprising given the franchise's tradition of seeking out playmakers at the position. Also, the Raiders’ leading receiver in 2021 was Hunter Renfrow, a possession pass-catcher who registered 103 catches for 1,038 yards and nine touchdowns on 128 targets in 2021. Now the Raiders' passing attack should be electric with Adams, Renfrow, and top-tier tight end Darren Waller.

That might be enough to keep pace with the stiff competition in the AFC West, as the Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos, and Los Angeles Chargers all boast star quarterbacks now.

Adams has played with Raiders quarterback Derek Carr, putting up huge numbers as the top receiver during the 2012 and 2013 seasons.

While the Raiders are undoubtedly better with the addition of Adams, will they be able to become Super Bowl contenders?

The Raiders were priced at +6000 through DraftKings Sportsbook to win the Super Bowl, and those odds have dropped to +4000. On FanDuel Sportsbook, prices have dropped from +5000 to +3800. At Caesars Sportsbook, the Raiders' Super Bowl prices have held steady at +5000.

Early in the offseason, the Chiefs were comfortably ahead of the field in the AFC West, and they were Super Bowl co-favorites with the Buffalo Bills. Kansas City is now coming back to the pack as the division loads up, and the Bills’ path to the Super Bowl appears easier. As a result, Kansas City’s odds to win are getting longer.

The Raiders were a distant fourth in the AFC West after the Broncos added quarterback Russell Wilson and the Chargers brought in pass-rusher Khalil Mack. But those odds are falling after the acquisition of Adams.

Green Bay Packers

Prices for the Packers to win the Super Bowl dropped dramatically when they re-signed Aaron Rodgers, and now the market is correcting somewhat with Adams leaving.

Packers' Super Bowl odds were +750 at DraftKings after they re-signed Rodgers. Those odds have moved to +850 following his departure. The shift was more significant at FanDuel while going from +750 to +1100, and Caesars dropped the Packers’ Super Bowl odds from +1000 to +1200.

Without Adams, the Packers' wide receiver depth chart consists of Allen Lazard, Randall Cobb, and a few unproven young options. There's no way they go into the season with that receiving corps. The Packers therefore likely offer value now based on the assumption they'll add a receiver or two.

There's a notable drop in quality among the available wide receivers. Julio Jones, Jarvis Landry, Will Fuller, T.Y. Hilton, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and an injured Odell Beckham Jr. are some of the notable options.

The Packers have also just acquired the 22nd pick from the Raiders to go with their own pick at 28, and one of those selections could be used on a receiver. Wideouts like Treylon Burks from Arkansas, Chris Olave from Ohio State, and Jameson Williams from Alabama are first-round possibilities for Green Bay.

While none will equal the value of Adams, Rodgers should be able to make it work if the Packers sign a veteran or two and add a receiver with a high pick.

The Raiders are appealing enough following the addition of Adams that their longer odds at Caesars Sportsbook are worth a look. The Packers weren't offering much value before and that could change now, depending on how much faith you have in the Packers' front office to address the gaping hole at wide receiver.
