NFL Parlay Predictions Week 12

Lions +9.5 (-118)

The Buffalo Bills got back in the win column with a 31-23 victory over the Cleveland Browns last week, snapping a two-game skid and breaking out of a bit of a funk. Buffalo was still down early, though, and didn’t cover the number for those who took the opening 8.5-point spread.

Meanwhile, the Detroit Lions have won three games in a row, albeit against inferior competition, by beating the Green Bay Packers, Chicago Bears, and New York Giants. But the Lions are clearly playing better of late and have had a knack for covering the spread under head coach Dan Campbell.

The Lions are 6-5 against the spread this year, which comes after covering a double-digit number of games last season. The Lions are eighth in the league in scoring with an average of 25 points per game, so this offense is too dangerous to not cover this big of a number at home on Thanksgiving Day.

Giants-Cowboys Under 45.5 (-110)

I wanted to take our second consecutive underdog, as the New York Giants are also getting 9.5 points on the road. But the Dallas Cowboys are coming off a 40-3 thumping of the Minnesota Vikings, and it is tough to step in front of that train.

New York won’t stay within single digits without this game staying Under the point total, and this number honestly might be this low only because of the road team. The Giants, who have yet to score more than 27 points in a game this season, are averaging 20.5 points per contest and rank 21st in the league in scoring.

The Giants have had only two of their 10 games go Over the point total in Brian Daboll’s first year at the helm. The Cowboys are 3-6-1 to the Over, so a low-scoring divisional matchup could be on deck Thursday afternoon.

Vikings -2.5 (-110)

The warning signs were always there for the Vikings, who played in seven consecutive one-score games prior to getting crushed by the Cowboys last week. Minnesota is somehow now 8-2 overall with a minus-2 point differential entering this matchup.

Yet the market might be too down on the Vikings at this point. Minnesota was roughly a 1- or 1.5-point favorite against Dallas last week at home, so why is this week’s line against New England not much higher? And the spread is below a key number.

The Patriots were fortunate to defeat the New York Jets last week, needing a walk-off punt return to record a 10-3 win. The Patriots (6-4) have mostly defeated bad teams and lost to good teams. The Vikings might not be as good as their record suggests, but they should be better than the Patriots to cap off Thanksgiving Day.
