The second Sunday of the NFL season wraps up with the Chiefs hosting the Colts tonight, and our Colts vs. Chiefs expert picks break down what to expect on Sunday Night Football.

The Chiefs are a 6.5-point betting favorite, with kickoff from Arrowhead Stadium in Kansas City, Mo., set for 8:20 p.m. ET (NBC).

Expert Pick
Gary Pearson Chiefs -6.5 (-115)
LJ Blut Rashee Rice anytime TD (+135)
Brenden Schaeffer Patrick Mahomes Over 17.5 rushing yards (-114)
Andrew Reid Chiefs -6.5 (+100)

Gary Pearson's pick: Chiefs -6.5 (-115)

Kenneth Walker III set a career rushing-yards mark (173) in his debut with the Chiefs. Walker's importance to the Chiefs' offense can't be overstated, as he lets Patrick Mahomes and Co. execute under center more effectively while disguising passes through play action. The Chiefs racked up 31 points against the Broncos despite Mahomes completing only 15 passes for 184 yards.

LJ Blut's pick: Rashee Rice anytime TD (+135)

Rashee Rice's ability to gain separation and make plays after the catch makes him especially dangerous near the goal line.

Kansas City should look to get Rice involved early, giving him multiple chances to find the end zone.

Brenden Schaeffer's pick: Patrick Mahomes Over 17.5 rushing yards (-114)

Indianapolis gave up the third-most rushing yards across the NFL in Week 1, and it wasn’t just the running back position doing damage. Lamar Jackson scampered for 40 yards on just seven rushing attempts. Though designed runs might be few and far between for Mahomes coming off ACL surgery, he showed in Week 1 that he’s still willing to scramble when the situation dictates.

Andrew Reid's pick: Chiefs -6.5 (+100)

Mahomes looked just fine in the opener for the Chiefs, effectively working with Walker to pick apart a Broncos defense that we all (still) expect to be pretty solid.

So, a matchup against a Colts defense that doesn't look that part will be music to the ears of the home side, which is licking its chops to get another commanding victory under its belt. As long as this stays on the nice side of seven, I think the Chiefs will stay far enough in front for the cover.
