My best Browns vs. Jaguars prediction hones in on a key year-over-year trend for the total, especially with one of the NFL’s run-heaviest offensive playcallers at the helm. Below, we’ll discuss the savviness of playing the Under in this spot.
Sunday’s game is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET (CBS) from EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla.

| 🏈 Pick | 💵 Units | 📝 Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Under 40.5 (-115 at bet365) | 2.3u → 2u | Unders have hit 68.2% of the time in Week 1 since 2022, and this slow-paced game should be no exception. |
| Chris Rodriguez Over 35.5 rushing yards (-115 at bet365) | 1.15u → 1u | Rodriguez should get plenty of carries (and, as a result, yards) as the Jaguars run out the clock instead of running up the score. |

💰 Browns vs. Jaguars prediction & best bet
Under 40.5 (-115)
Cleveland’s new head coach, Todd Monken, ran the NFL’s fourth-slowest offense by second per play last year (30.6) while running at the highest clip (52.1%). He may no longer have Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry, but it’s unlikely he’ll move away from his run-heavy approach, especially with a liability at quarterback.
Monken will square up with Jacksonville’s Liam Coen. Although Coen has a reputation as an offensive guru, he, too, chewed up plenty of clock. The Jaguars ranked 21st in second per play (29.8) and 14th in rushing-play percentage (44.6%). I anticipate a slow-paced game, and even though the Jaguars should score with the help of some splash plays, I don’t trust Cleveland to do the same.
📡 SBR EDGE
Year in and year out, fans expect points in Week 1, and the books know it. Unders are 2-0 to start 2026. In Week 1 of last season, the Under went 12-4. Since 2022, Week 1 has seen the Under go a monstrous 45-21 (68.2%).
Betting on Week 1 Unders remains profitable
The total of 40.5 may seem low, but with a spread of 8.5, that implies 16 points for Cleveland and 24.5 for Jacksonville. The Watson-led Browns averaged just 15.6 points per contest in 2024. Watson accounted for just six total touchdowns – less than one per game – over that stretch.
I don’t see the Monken and Watson-led Browns doing their part, and with both sides likely to play at a below-average pace, give me yet another Under in Week 1.
Score Prediction: Jaguars 23, Browns 13
