Top Expert Spread NBA Picks
Warriors -5 (-110)
The Warriors are a league-best 11-1 and have shown no signs of slowing down. They're in the top two in terms of offensive and defensive efficiency, top three in points for and against per game, plus Steph Curry is playing at an MVP level. Any way you slice it, the Warriors are a complete team.
Charlotte is a good offensive team but struggles on the defensive side of the court. They're second in points per game but dead last in points against per game, giving up on average 116 points per contest. With PJ Washington ruled out, the Warriors should be able to have their way in the paint. Golden State is 8-3 against the spread this season, and I think they can cover this number with ease. - Bondi
Bulls +3.5 (-110)
The most entertaining matchup of Sunday's slate is the Chicago Bulls at the Los Angeles Clippers. The Bulls beefed up on offense in the offseason and their reward thus far is an 8-4 overall and ATS record. Their shooting rates all rank in the top-seven, and their defense has been a pleasant surprise despite middling efficiency numbers. Meanwhile, the Clippers have been solid without Kawhi Leonard. They're 8-4 overall and currently on a seven-game winning streak. But they're also on a back-to-back here.
Outside of their blowout against Golden State Friday night, the Bulls have been able to outperform expectations and put immense stress on great defenses. I think they keep this one close, if not win outright as the Clippers finally falter. -Wharton
Top Expert O/U NBA Picks
Suns/Rockets Over 221.5 (-105)
Both the Suns and Rockets are in the top five in the NBA in terms of pace — a good sign when you're leaning towards the Over. Both teams are in the bottom half of the league in points against per game, and Phoenix is third in the league in points per game.
These teams combined for 234 points when they met on November 4, and since then the Suns have averaged 117 points per game. The Rockets have scored over 100 on great defensive teams like the Warriors, and I think they can do their part in this game to get over the total. - Bondi
Nets/Thunder Over 214.5 (-105)
Neither of these teams are scoring in volume but that's for differing reasons. Brooklyn is incredibly efficient but slow, whereas the Thunder are simply young and terrible. That can make for a huge blowout Sunday as both teams are fresh with one night off.
The Nets have hit the Over in three of their last four games, and they carried their share of the weight in each of those totals. Oklahoma City has hit under on a whopping eight of their last 10, and six straight. They're due to go over on what's a very reasonable total line. Wharton
