NBA Top Picks for Monday

Moneyline: Grizzlies (-130) ★★★★★

Memphis has been great at home this season, going 8-2 overall and 8-1 as the home favorite. The Grizz average the sixth-most points and surrender the 10th-fewest on their home court this season, and the discrepancy in the home-road splits is quite substantial.

Meanwhile, the Heat score the fifth-fewest points overall and fifth-fewest on the road, meaning it will be a tall order to keep pace with Ja Morant & Co. Jimmy Butler is questionable on the first night of a back-to-back set, and if he sits, Miami will be in even worse shape.

The Heat are just 2-6 straight up as road underdogs, and we’re betting on Memphis staying hot at home.

Total: Suns-Mavericks Over 221 (-107) ★★★★★

There’s no love lost in this matchup. The Mavs embarrassed the Suns in Game 7 of the Western Conference semifinals last season, but Phoenix stole the season opener at Footprint Center on a Damion Lee game-winning jumper with under 10 seconds to play.

Now, the teams will meet in Dallas in what figures to be a higher-scoring affair. Each team has gone 3-1 Over/Under in the last four games, and Dallas is 7-5 as the home favorite this season.

Phoenix is 3-0 as the underdog and 2-0 as the road 'dog. Expect Doncic and Booker to trade baskets all evening and eclipse this modest point total.

Spread: Rockets +8.5 (-110)★★★★

Who doesn’t love a home underdog? Home 'dogs are 65-56-3 against the spread this season, and we’re taking another one to cover Monday.

The 76ers are due to get James Harden back after an extended absence, but Houston will be competitive in front of its home crowd. The Rockets are 4-3-1 as home 'dogs this season, and the team has covered in three of its last four home matchups. The Sixers have failed to cover in each of their last three games.

Houston has played solid basketball over the last two weeks and won three of six games after starting the season 3-11.

Prop bet: Banchero double-double (+1200) ★★★★

We’ve got mighty long odds on this one, as Banchero has averaged just 3.2 boards across his last six games since returning from a long injury layoff. Prior to his injury, the rookie averaged 8.3 boards across his first 11 appearances and posted three double-doubles. The potential is there, and a matchup with the Bucks is just what the doctor ordered.

Milwaukee surrenders the third-most rebounds on the road this season at a healthy 55.3. Banchero is a better rebounder at home (6.8), and three of his best rebounding efforts came against teams ranked in the top 11 of most opponent rebounds per game.

We’re not worried about Banchero’s points, as he’s failed to score in double digits only once this season. Let’s go out on a limb here and bank on Banchero excelling against the Bucks as a big home underdog.

DraftKings is offering this one at +1200, which is far longer than the +950 offered at PointsBet and +700 offered at FanDuel Sportsbook.
