There’s a lot at stake during Saturday’s matchup between the Seattle Storm (15-10) and Washington Mystics (11-12) at 7:30 p.m. ET from CareFirst Arena as we make our Storm vs. Mystics odds and prediction

The Storm remain in WNBA championship odds contention, while the Mystics must decide their direction. If Washington makes the playoffs, its draft position could bump multiple spots due to the addition of two expansion teams next year.

For now, we'll operate on the assumption Washington is going for it, making the Over my favorite play.

The future is bright in Washington, as its rookies Sonia Citron and Kiki Iriafen have been better than expected. But I’m not sure a first-round sweep at the hands of the Minnesota Lynx or New York Liberty is worth falling back from No. 5 to No. 8 in next year’s draft.

Washington would benefit from dropping some games. Fortunately, Seattle holds plenty of confidence after its 95-57 victory over the Chicago Sky.

These two teams faced off nearly two weeks ago, with Washington earning a 74-69 road win over Seattle. The total finished easily Under its closing line of 156.5.

But I like the Over in Saturday’s rematch because of how poorly both clubs shot in that game. The Mystics shot 21.4% from long range, while the Storm went 36.2% from the floor.

Washington’s young team plays at the league's fifth-highest pace while ranking eighth in defensive rating. Seattle has been climbing up to third in defensive rating, but it surrendered 87 points to another young squad (the Dallas Wings) a few days ago.

I’ll buy the dip on the lowest total of this weekend’s slate.

Skylar Diggins went 3-for-6 from long range during a 21-point performance against the Sky on Thursday. Her 3-point volume has been starting to tick up lately, as she's fired 26 attempts from distance over the past six games.

Diggins has only cleared this mark twice over that span, but I don’t mind the plus-money price given her recent usage.
