After resting on Sunday, Paige Bueckers should make her return today and make a big impact in our Liberty vs. Wings odds and prediction. Tipoff from College Park Center in Arlington, Texas, is set for 8 p.m. ET (ESPN).

The Liberty continue to lead the WNBA championship odds, but their best player, Breanna Stewart, suffered a leg injury over the weekend and will miss her first game of the season. With Buecker likely back and Stewart out, the Wings should have more than a shot to cover as 8-point betting underdogs.

The Liberty lost to the Los Angeles Sparks on Sunday when Stewart suffered an injury, but there is still a large enough gap between them and the Wings. New York is 17-7 this year, while Dallas is 7-19.

I’d be surprised if Dallas pulled off the upset, even in a lookahead spot with New York’s trip to visit the Minnesota Lynx looming.

The game total has climbed six points overnight for a reason. The Liberty aren’t the same defense without Stewart, which is why they gave up 101 points to the Sparks on Saturday.

This is a chance for Dallas to find some offensive momentum, but the full-game lines are already to a point where the value is gone. That’s why I prefer the first-quarter angle for the Wings, especially given the way these two teams have played of late.

Dallas has scored 21 or more points in the first quarter in four of its past five games, ranking sixth with an average of 22.4 points in the opening period over that span. New York has surrendered 21-plus points in the first quarter for five straight contests, giving up an average of 26.8 points in the opening period during that stretch.

The Liberty will need a big game from Jones, who returned from injury last week. She’s averaged 17.3 points per game since returning, and could have a bigger boost with Stewart sidelined.
