The Donald Trump U.S. presidential election odds for 2024 show him as the narrow betting favorite at some of our best sports betting sites (outside the U.S.) prior to November's election.

Donald Trump is shifting positions in many ways lately. From full-time candidate to part-time courtroom dweller. And from oddsboard dominator to chaser.

Trump has fallen fast over a short time in politics, and for the first time in a long while he's now listed behind Joe Biden at one of our best sportsbooks in the 2024 U.S. presidential odds. He's tied elsewhere too, and holds only a narrow lead where Trump remains the favorite.

It's all coming with the Stormy Daniels hush-money trial in its early stages. Biden's once deep hole has turned into a dead heat. Is it all a sign of more stumbling to come from Trump due to his legal matters? Or will he rally his always-strong base to recover quickly?

To complement our 2024 U.S. presidential election odds and Republican election odds, here is our look at the top Donald Trump presidential election odds for 2024 from our best sportsbooks (odds available only from Ontario sports betting sites).

Donald Trump presidential election odds 2024 analysis

The colossal shift in the odds at our best sports betting sites keeps going with Trump still falling backward. He's now tumbled so much that Trump is behind Biden for the first time in a long while at one book, with bet365 listing the incumbent ahead. Trump is also tied with Biden at DraftKings, and ahead only narrowly ahead through FanDuel.

The former president is suddenly needing to get scrappy, which is how he thrives. But he's handcuffed to some degree short term, as Trump needs to be present in New York with the Stormy Daniels hush-money trial ongoing.

So he could keep falling back gradually in the odds, or at minimum stay stagnant at our best live betting sites. Biden was listed as long as +240 a short time ago, and now he's commonly down to around +110.

It's even more concerning for Trump when looking at the polls. A recent Marist College poll showed Biden holding a three-point lead.

However, both candidates come with their warts. Age is the primary one for Biden, and legal issues are the problem following Trump. But there may be a broader and deeper challenge for both, as a YouGov poll showed that 48% of respondents hold negative feelings about a 2020 rematch.

Trump might also be feeling the impact of the negative headlines tied to his legal entanglements. His Daniels hush-money trial is now underway and is expected to last about two months. He's now officially the first former president to face criminal charges.

Biden's unpopularity was once a significant advantage for Trump. But the president's approval rating has predictably been rising alongside his poll numbers. Biden's approval rating bottomed out at a lowly 37.6%, but it now sits at 39.5%.

Donald Trump Republican presidential nominee odds analysis 2024

Trump didn't face a real challenge in the Republican field. His odds to become the nominee shortened dramatically just prior to Super Tuesday, going from -2500 to -5000 at bet365. He then officially secured the nomination and enough delegates days later.

Ron DeSantis was once thought to be Trump's top competition, but his campaign fizzled fast before the Florida governor dropped out just before the New Hampshire primary, endorsing Trump in the process. That endorsement contributed to Trump's Republican odds spiking even further.

Nikki Haley was repeatedly thumped too before finally ending her campaign the morning after Super Tuesday. However, she stopped short of endorsing Trump, instead saying she wishes him well, and that the former president now needs to "earn the votes in our party and beyond it who did not support him."

Trump did receive a critical endorsement from Mitch McConnell, the Senate minority leader and one of the most powerful Republicans. The two had once sparred, but now McConnell says he's eager to work with Trump again.

"I look forward to the opportunity of switching from playing defense against the terrible policies the Biden administration has pursued to a sustained offense geared toward making a real difference in improving the lives of the American people,” McConnell said in a statement.
