💰 Alouettes vs. Redblacks prediction & CFL best bet
🎯 Score prediction: Alouettes 24, Redblacks 17
Dru Brown is like the Baker Mayfield of the CFL: a fiery competitor and gunslinging QB who's got an entire fanbase behind him to the point that the former Oklahoma State backup and Hawaii starter looks like the future face of football in O-Town.
You take him out of the equation, especially after passing for more than 400 yards last week, and the Redblacks are in trouble. While Matthew Shiltz is an experienced backup, the 32-year-old has lost three straight starts, and his team is 2-7 in games where he has had to throw 20-plus passes.
Being down Brown should sink the Redblacks against an Als team that just beat the defending champs 28-10. Montreal allowed the second-fewest points per game (22.4) and passing yards per game last season (255.4) and looks set to be just as good defensively this season.
Shiltz likely won't be able to keep up with Montreal with its stellar wide receiver corps set to put plenty of pressure on the Redblacks' defense, especially with new starting QB Davis Alexander coming off an efficient Week 1. With Tyson Philpot, Austin Mack, Charleston Rambo, Tyler Snead, and Cole Spieker catching passes, the Alouettes are bound to break enough big plays for a decisive win.

👀 Star player prop to watch: Tyson Philpot Over 65.5 receiving yards

Before an injury last season, Philpot looked poised to build on his Grey Cup Most Valuable Canadian award by taking home CFL Most Outstanding Canadian. Despite playing just nine games, he finished in the top 20 in the league in receiving yards (779).
Philpot is set for a true breakout this season, and we saw flashes of it in Week 1, but it will be even brighter in Week 2 against a Redblacks team dealing with several injuries. He could help turn Alexander into a CFL Most Outstanding Player odds contender with a strong showing in Ottawa.
