The Atlanta Braves and San Diego Padres square off on Sunday Night Baseball, and we have you covered with our Padres vs. Braves player props based on the best MLB  odds.

The San Diego Padres bounced back from the Colorado Rockies sweeping them at home in three games with a 3-1 victory in the road-series opener against the Atlanta Braves.

Matt Waldron and four Padres relievers combined to strike out 18 Braves hitters, marking a season-worst for Atlanta. A win on Sunday would even San Diego's record at 24-24, while the Braves are currently a season-high four games behind the Philadelphia Phillies for first place in the NL East.

Here are our best Padres vs. Braves player props and MLB picks for Sunday (odds via our best MLB betting sites; Pick confidence is based on a 1-to-5-star scale).

Padres vs. Braves expert picks

Bryce Elder Over 3.5 strikeouts⭐⭐⭐⭐

Bryce Elder is making his second consecutive start on Sunday Night Baseball, and he's coming off a season-high six-strikeout performance against the New York Mets, a team that had struck out at the fourth-lowest rate entering that start.

Elder has averaged just 4 1/3 innings in his two May outings while pitching to a 9.35 ERA. However, we're still getting generous plus-money odds for a pitcher to record four-plus strikeouts, something Elder has done in three of four starts during 2024.

This is a three-star play, as Elder has pitched well in two home starts, with a 1.50 ERA and 1.33 WHIP. Additionally, he's held current Padres hitters to a combined .174/.240/.304 slash line over 23 combined at-bats.

Yu Darvish Over 17.5 outs⭐⭐⭐

Yu Darvish has done an excellent job taming the Braves' lineup in the past, limiting them to a .163/.214/.272 slash line over 92 at-bats. While Darvish has only completed six-plus innings in six of eight starts during 2024, the schedule hasn't been the kindest. He's faced two NL division favorites (the Los Angeles Dodgers and Chicago Cubs) a combined five times.

Darvish hasn't allowed a run in 17 consecutive innings, and he's coming off tying a season-high with 21 outs recorded on 101 pitches. But we're not worried about workload with him after he enjoyed an extra day of rest to prepare for this start. He's logged a career-best winning percentage (.649), OBA (.213), and ERA (3.28) when pitching on six-plus days of rest compared to four or five days.

Jurickson Profar Over 0.5 RBIs ⭐⭐⭐

The Padres' lineup has been more successful than Atlanta’s batting order against right-handed pitching during 2024, with a 120 wRC+ compared to the Braves’ 107. And with San Diego holding the starting pitching edge, we're targeting one of the Padres' hitters to take advantage of Elder and his below-average 77 Stuff+ rating.

Profar is batting a team-best .330 against righties in 2024, and his .914 OPS in 115 at-bats against right-handed pitching is second only to Jake Cronenworth. Profar’s 30 RBIs are tied for 15th in the league, and he's driven in at least one run in two of the Padres' previous four games, and in six of 14 during May.

This is only a three-star play, as Profar drove in a run during the series opener and has only produced an RBI in consecutive games twice this campaign. But we hold more confidence in him doing so than anyone in a Braves lineup that could be again without Austin Riley (left side inflammation) and Travis d’Arnaud (head contusion).
