The Cleveland Guardians won their fourth straight postseason game and now look to take a commanding 2-0 series lead over the Tampa Bay Rays. But instead of picking sides, my Guardians vs. Rays prediction backs the Under in a buy-low spot a day after these teams combined for 10 runs. With that, I expect Tampa Bay's best slugger to struggle, while I find value in a Guardians slugger who has three multi-hit games in the last four to go deep with the last of my MLB picks.

First pitch from Tropicana Field is set for 8 p.m. ET (TBS/truTV). The Rays are -143 betting favorites.

Guardians vs. Rays prediction & best bet

Under 7 (-121)

Parker Messick recorded 193 strikeouts during the regular season, the second most by a rookie in Guardians franchise history. He has not allowed more than three runs in 18 consecutive starts since the calendar turned to July.

Messick faces a Rays lineup that ranked 26th in wRC+, 18th in BABIP, and 27th in wOBA against left-handed pitching in the regular season. Meanwhile, I also expect Freddy Peralta to put up zeros, given his impressive stretch in a Rays uniform. In his final six starts before the postseason, Peralta went 5-0 with a 0.79 ERA, a 27:9 K:BB ratio, and a 0.79 WHIP.

📡 SBR Edge: Unders as favorites

Entering Game 1, the Under had cashed in each of Tampa Bay's last four games as a home favorite.

Best Guardians vs. Rays player prop bet

Junior Caminero Under 1.5 hits + runs + RBI (-110)

Parker Messick has outstanding career numbers against current Rays hitters, limiting them to a .205/.227/.236 slash line and two extra-base hits in 73 combined at-bats. Messick’s most notable successful split is against Junior Caminero, who has just one single in 12 at-bats against the lefty with two strikeouts.

Messick and Jacob Misiorowski were the only two pitchers this season to rank in the 80th percentile in hard-hit percentage, barrel percentage, and walk rate among qualified starting pitchers. They are also two of the three pitchers with a +29 run value or better on 4-seam fastballs and sinkers in 2026.

Messick’s trust in his fastball should spell bad news for Caminero. In the southpaw’s first 16 starts, he used his four-seamer 30.2% of the time against right-handed batters. But over the previous 17, he increased that usage to 54.9%.

Guardians vs. Rays home run prediction

Jose Ramirez to hit a home run (+700)

Jose Ramirez cashed a +770 home run wager for me in Game 5 of the ALDS, and I’m going back to the well again.

In Game 4 of the White Sox series, Ramirez hit his fifth career postseason home run, tying him for fourth-most in franchise history. In the process, he drove in his 24th career postseason RBI, tying him for fourth-most in franchise history.

Ramirez and Jim Thome are the only players in Guardians franchise history with four go-ahead playoff home runs. He has a .333 batting average and an .889 OPS in a small sample against Peralta, which gives me confidence.

Live Guardians vs. Rays odds

Despite losing 7-3 yesterday, bettors still believe Tampa Bay can even the series, as BetMGM's odds moved from -130 to -140 (58.33% implied odds). As of this writing, FanDuel's market-low -132 odds were 11 cents above the high end of the market at DraftKings (-143), and the Rays are attracting a whopping 70% of the moneyline wagers.

Our best sports betting sites are evenly split between an O/U of 6.5 and 7 runs. bet365 was the only one to have bounced back and forth between the two totals, as all others have remained cemented at their opening number. Thus far 53% of the wagers have backed the Over.
