The Milwaukee Brewers have already won more games in this year's NLCS than they did against the Los Angeles Dodgers last year after yesterday's 2-1 victory, but my Dodgers vs. Brewers prediction for Game 2 expects the road favorites to even the series. The starting pitching matchup is between Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Logan Henderson.

I’m calling for Yamamoto to cool off Jackson Chourio's hot bat and continue his road postseason success with the first of my MLB picks, while finding value in a Dodgers slugger to go yard.

First pitch from American Family Field is set for tonight at 5 p.m. ET, airing on FOX and FS1. The Dodgers are -137 betting favorites.

Dodgers vs. Brewers prediction & best bet

Dodgers ML (-136)

While the Brewers now own MLB’s best home record this season (including playoffs) at 58-26, this play on the Dodgers moneyline is all about the confidence I have in Yamamoto.

Los Angeles is 9-1 in the last 10 postseason games started by Yamamoto. And in his last five playoff starts (all on the road), he is 5-0 with a 1.07 ERA, 33.2 IP, 32/4 K/BB, one home run allowed, a .148 opponent batting average, and a .397 opponent OPS.

Yamamoto has eight career postseason wins, which is tied for the fourth most among active MLB pitchers, and has a great chance to add a ninth today.

📡 SBR Edge: Yamamoto in rare company

Yamamoto has a 1.42 road ERA in his playoff career. Among starting pitchers in the divisional era (since 1969, min. 30 IP), only Madison Bumgarner (0.50) and Anibal Sanchez (1.34) have lower career road playoff ERAs.

Best Dodgers vs. Brewers player prop bet

Jackson Chourio Under 1.5 hits + runs + RBIs (-125)

Brewers leadoff man Jackson Chourio has been a solid table-setter all season long, and was also the only Milwaukee batter to turn in a multi-hit game yesterday. He is now slashing .250/.304/.400 for the postseason, and has gone Over this projected total in four of the team’s five playoff games. In fact, he exceeded this projected total on RBI alone in two of the three home playoff games to this point.

Despite Chourio’s successes, I expect Yamamoto to frustrate him, as he is the only pitcher with six different pitches at a plus-5 run value over the last two seasons.

Dodgers vs. Brewers home run prediction

Shohei Ohtani to hit a home run (+337)

Ohtani entered Game 1 with a .157/.286/.205 slash line, and three extra-base hits (no home runs) with one RBI over his previous 22 games. Much of those struggles came because of an inability to hit breaking balls.

Against breaking balls in 2025, Ohtani batted .293 with a .628 slugging percentage and 41.8% whiff rate. But since Aug. 1 in that split, he is batting .156 with a .378 slugging percentage and 45.9% whiff rate.

I’m buying low on Ohtani to snap a power drought today for two key reasons. Not only does Henderson rank in the 34th percentile in barrel rate, but he is an extreme fly ball pitcher, with a ground ball rate in the fourth percentile.
