This week's Zurich Classic of New Orleans is a team event with Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele looking to repeat their 2022 victory at TPC Louisiana. Read on for our top Zurich Classic picks and predictions.

The PGA Tour's annual team event takes place this week at TPC Louisiana in Avondale, LA. Reigning champions Xander Schauffele and Patrick Cantlay are heavy favorites to defend their title but neither has a solo victory this year.

Cantlay and Schauffele are reuniting as a superteam while ranked fourth and fifth, respectively, in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) entering this week. They finished third and fourth, respectively, in last week's RBC Heritage. Collin Morikawa and Max Homa, another all-California duo, are second by the consensus oddsboard, powered by Morikawa's two career major wins and Homa's two wins on the 2022-23 PGA Tour season.

Below, we offer up our top Zurich Classic picks and predictions, along with the best PGA Tour odds, a course preview, and all the key stats to know.

Kim and Kim, both from South Korea but unrelated, were teammates for the International Team in the 2022 Presidents Cup and most notably defeated the power team of Cantlay and Schauffele in four-ball play.

The two were then paired together in the first round of the Shriners Children's Open (won by T. Kim) just over a week later. In that event, Tom defeated Patrick Cantlay and Matthew NeSmith by three strokes with Si Woo finishing five shots back in seventh place.

I'm also giving a lot of credit to the two Kims for playing a lot of golf as a factor in their favor this week. The PGA Tour's elevated events have led to busy schedules for many of the world's top-ranked golfers this year; this event is following the Masters and the RBC Heritage. Kim and Kim, and many other top-ranked South Korean golfers, are more familiar with a hectic schedule than most competitors.

While the Zurich Classic odds for Tom and Si Woo have dropped across our best sportsbooks since Monday evening, we're still getting adequate value from the +1500 odds offered by FanDuel, relative to the +1400 odds from three of our other best sportsbooks.

Sam Burns & Billy Horschel (+1800 via Caesars)

As expected, the odds have dropped for the team of Horschel and Burns since they opened as high as +2100. A linger +1800 from Caesars remains a strong play Tuesday evening.

Horschel - who has won the Zurich Classic twice - and Burns are teamed up for a third straight year in this event. That must've been an easy decision for the Floridian Horschel and homegrown Louisiana native Burns. They tied for fourth in their first year together in 2021 and moved up the leaderboard to a runner-up finish last year. Burns also played this event in 2019 but missed the cut with partner Cameron Champ while Horschel tied for 13th with Scott Piercy.

Given those finishes and the shared experience at TPC Louisiana, this rogue +1800 via Caesars is the best number on the board this week.

Zurich Classic prop picks

Top 10 finish: Tyler Duncan & Hank Lebioda (+650 via FanDuel)

With the +1800 odds for Burns and Horschel being the highest I'm willing to go for an outright winner this week, we'll take the best value for a top-10 finish for an intriguing long-shot pick. The best outright odds for Lebioda and Duncan are +15000 via FanDuel, with PointsBet offering +12500 and other sports betting sites offering +8000 odds for the duo.

Though this is Duncan and Lebioda's first year as a team, both are highly experienced on this course and in this event. Duncan tied for 14th last year and for 11th in 2021 with partner Adam Schenk. Lebioda tied for 18th in 2022 with Chase Seiffert.

Zurich Classic format

The Zurich Classic is played in foursomes for all four rounds with the four-ball format (best ball) used Thursday and Saturday and alternate shot used for the second and fourth rounds. The top 33 teams (and ties) advance past the 36-hole cut.

Teams generally score lower in Rounds 1 and 3, with Cantlay and Schauffele firing the two lowest rounds of last year's tournament with a 59 and a 60. It can be wise to jump in with a live bet on a low-scoring team from Day 2 in anticipation of similar success in the final-round format.

Conventional key stats are thrown out the window this week given the format and heightened variance. The focus should be on ball striking with more weight given to course history, tournament experience, and the familiarity of playing partners.
