Brian Harman of the United States plays his tee shot as we look at our best Masters sleepers and long-shot picks

Hope springs eternal as the first major of 2024 arrives, and we've scoured and hunted for the best Masters sleepers and long-shot picks based on the odds at our top golf betting sites.

While Augusta National Golf Course attracts the world's most elite golfers each year, there's nothing as joyful as dissecting the Masters odds for the 89-man field in search of a viable long shot.

Scottie Scheffler is again this year's consensus betting favorite across our best sports betting sites, but he's an ill-advised bet against this top-tier competition. His odds are as low as +375, giving the two-time champion an implied 21.05% win probability to add another green jacket to his closet, but with just a profit of $37.50 on a $10 wager.

We've made our Masters outright picks and assessed the favorites in our Masters power rankings, but it's time for a little fun as we hunt for bigger profits with our long-shot picks.

Collin Morikawa

When betting the Masters, it's important to adjust your definition of a long-shot bet. Only two of the past 10 winners had pre-tournament odds of +5000 or longer, so we'll gladly take this rogue +5500 for Morikawa to win from DraftKings.

Morikawa, a two-time major winner, opened with Masters odds of +2500, and those dipped as low as +2000 following the Tour Championship. This is while Morikawa has slid to No. 20 in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) entering this week. After a T-5 finish in the season-opening Sentry in Hawaii, Morikawa's best result was a T-14 in the Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

But Morikawa has back-to-back top 10 finishes in the Masters as he eyes a third career major win at the age of 27. His 2.07 true strokes gained on the field per round rank seventh in this year's field among everyone with at least 10 rounds played.

Best odds: +5500 via DraftKings

Brian Harman

Harman was the first of my futures Masters picks and predictions. I locked in the Champion Golfer of the Year at +20000 in the immediate aftermath of his 2023 British Open victory.

As of last week, his odds had dropped to as short as +3500 via Caesars. That movement was in the wake of his T-2 finish in The Players Championship which returned him to No. 8 in the OWGR. He proceeded to miss the cut in the Valspar Championship and tie for 25th in the Valero Texas Open to return some value to his Masters odds.

The diminutive Harman is 35th on the PGA Tour this season in birdie-or-better percentage from 200-plus yards. More importantly for Augusta National, he's fourth in 3-putt avoidance. Harman will look to follow suit of the many lefthanders who found success at ANGC. He himself has a top finish of T-12 in the 2021 Masters.

A $10 bet at +8000 odds would return a profit of $800 with a green jacket win.

Best odds: +8000 via Caesars

Caersars Masters promo

Caesars offers all eligible U.S. customers a 25% boost for any one Masters outright bet. This would bring Harman's odds from +8000 to +10000. That's a difference of $200 in profit for a winning $10 bet. Opt-in here!

Si Woo Kim

Kim's predominant Masters memory is of him slamming his putter into the ground while in contention during the 2021 tournament.

The South Korean star went on to finish T-12 that year for his best Masters finish to date, but he notably hasn't missed the cut in any of his previous six appearances. The four-time PGA Tour winner has gained an average of 0.99 strokes on the field over his 26 career rounds at ANGC.

Kim is 17th on Tour this season in birdie-or-better percentage from 200-plus yards, and he's 11th in 3-putt avoidance. He's fourth among all qualified PGA Tour golfers in SG: tee-to-green over everyone's last 20 measured rounds.

Recent Masters long-shot winners

Only two of the past 10 Masters winners had odds of at least +5000 ahead of Round 1. Here are some other notable Masters long shots who've won:

  • Charl Schwartzel - 2011 (+10000, 100-1)
  • Angel Cabrera - 2009 (+12500, 125-1)
  • Trevor Immelman - 2008 (+15000, 150-1)

Trevor Immelman in 2008 is the biggest long-shot winner of the Masters on record at golfodds.com, since 2008. A $10 bet would've returned a profit of $1,500 with the victory. Immelman beat Tiger Woods by three strokes despite a Sunday round of 3-over par 75.
