2024 Masters Props Picks & Odds: Will Tiger Make the Cut?

The golf world shifts its attention to Augusta National Golf Club this week, as we offer our top Masters prop picks with Scottie Scheffler as the outright betting favorite based on the odds from our best golf betting sites.

The 2024 Masters is finally here, giving us a loaded field competing for the coveted green jacket. Augusta National Golf Club’s iconic course, lined with Dagwood trees and Azalea flowers, will challenge golfers as a par-72 course stretching over 7,500 yards in length. 

Jon Rahm looks to defend his title from last year, when he surged in the final round to jump into a four-stroke lead over Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson at 12 under. The previous three winning scorecards have all been 12-under-par or higher, indicating the difficulty of conquering this famed course.

Undulated fairways and greens create difficult lies, but approach shots reign supreme at Augusta. Putting is the constant hurdle to overcome, along with myriad water hazards and sand traps. 

Rahm, Scottie Scheffler, Hideki Matsuyama, Dustin Johnson, and Tiger Woods are the last five winners at the Masters. Only three players, including Woods, have won back-to-back at Augusta National, so Rahm will attempt to make history by joining this elite group by defending his title in his return to the PGA Tour to compete in the first major of the season.

Rory McIlroy to finish top five (+230 via FanDuel) ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Rory McIlroy has been rock-solid at the Masters for the majority of his career. It’s simply the outright win that eludes the star golfer from Northern Ireland. 

We’ve seen McIlroy log three top-five finishes in the past five years at the Masters, although there have been a pair of missed cuts in the mix, as well. This includes 2023, when McIlroy failed to go under par in either of the first two rounds, imploding with a 5-over second round to go home early.

Based on his finish at Valero, which was a solo third thanks to a strong finish at 6-under-par in Sunday’s final round, McIlroy is entering Augusta National with some momentum. Pair this with his motivation to complete a career grand slam at majors - which he’s come close to doing a handful of times at Augusta - and we’re eyeing a fourth top-five finish for McIlroy at the Masters since 2018. 

Missing the cut in 2023 should make us feel confident about staking a unit on McIlroy to log a top-five finish at a solid +230 odds in the finishing position market on FanDuel. 

Scottie Scheffler to finish top five (-125 via BetMGM) ⭐⭐⭐

While the odds for Scottie Scheffler to log a top-five finish aren’t nearly as lucrative compared to McIlroy's, we’re still wagering on the best tee-to-green player in golf right now. Scheffler has finished 19th, 18th, first, and 10th in his four appearances at Augusta National Golf Club and should remain near the top of the leaderboard throughout the event due to his elite ball-striking ability. 

Yes, the putter has been inconsistent for the World No. 1 and FedExCup No. 1 all season long, but he’s rounded into form with a transition to the mallet putter. Two outright wins in his past three events - which could’ve been three in a row if not for a missed five-foot birdie putt to force a playoff at the Houston Open - are enough to show us that Scheffler is playing with extreme confidence.

Scheffler's -200 odds for a top-10 finish was too much juice to lay, at least for our liking, but -125 odds are a lot more manageable. Yes, he did wind up with a 10th-place finish in 2023, but Scheffler’s irons and off-the-tee skill set align nicely with the rigors of Augusta National. 

This is only a three-star play since we’re getting minus odds on Scheffler to log just his second top-five finish ever at the Masters while laying a bit of juice along with this wager. Still, based on his current form and 2022 win at Augusta National, Scheffler to record his second top-five finish deserves another full unit wager. 

Tiger Woods to make the cut (-187 via Caesars) ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Tiger Woods props are inevitable whenever he takes the tee box at an event. Knowing that it’s the Masters, an event at which the aging superstar has made 23 consecutive cuts, means we’re going to invest in his ability to hold up through the first two rounds.

There’s undoubtedly some risk involved with taking this prop on Woods to make the cut, as we’ve seen him withdraw earlier in 2024 at The Genesis Invitational due to suffering from flu-like symptoms. Woods also withdrew after two rounds at the Masters in 2023 due to an ankle ailment that required fusion surgery after his withdrawal. 

Laying -187 with Woods to make the cut has its risks, but it’ll be fun to sweat Tiger playing on a course where he’s won five green jackets in his career. This includes his improbable 2019 win at Augusta, which we’re only five years removed from watching.

Woods made the cut in two of three events played in 2023, so this is likely why we’re getting a bigger number on his odds to advance into the weekend.

We’re staking one final unit on Woods to make the cut for the 24th consecutive time at Augusta National this week.

How to bet on golf

Betting on golf involves understanding the various types of bets available and how to assess player performance.
