Pac-12 Week 3 Top Picks

Moneyline: Oregon (-175)

BYU was 5-0 against the Pac-12 last season and is coming off a massive 26-20 overtime win against Baylor in Week 2.

Oregon has won 20 straight games at home and demolished Eastern Washington last week in a get-right game.

It will be a tough matchup for the Ducks. Still, I’m willing to gamble on Dan Lanning’s defense being more comfortable in its system and to shut down a BYU offense that has averaged a mediocre 70.25 PFF passing grade through two weeks and a middling 69.3 rushing grade.

Look for Oregon’s pass rush to make things difficult for quarterback Jaren Hall and for the Ducks to continue their winning streak at home.

Spread: USC -12.5 (-110)

This game features two stud quarterbacks in USC’s Caleb Williams and Fresno’s Jake Haener.

Williams has been a revelation with the Trojans, throwing for four touchdowns in their road win against Stanford last week. He is the catalyst to an offense averaging 8.62 yards-per-play this season.

The Bulldogs lost a nail-biter against Oregon State last week at home due to a putrid defensive effort that earned a 47.5 PFF grade.

This will be an issue going on the road against a USC team that is dominating offensively through two games.

Look for the Trojans to cover this number in a sweat-free manner.

Total: Cal-Notre Dame Under 41 (-110)

Cal will come to South Bend and face a desperate Notre Dame squad that is 0-2 and coming off a terrible loss to Marshall.

The passing game has been an issue for both teams this season, and Cal quarterback Jack Plummer struggled against the Irish last year when he was with Purdue.

Notre Dame is better than it's recent results and will look to shut down an inferior Cal offense.

Seven of the Bears' last 10 games have gone Under. Look for that trend to continue in this spot.
