Best Oregon vs. Ohio State SGP & parlay picks
Oregon +7.5 (-108)
Ohio State is just 2-2 ATS in home games, enjoying some blowout wins against inferior competition but failing to cover the large spreads. Though this number is a lot smaller at 7.5, I’m expecting a similar outcome given Oregon’s desperation as the Ducks remain somewhat surprisingly alive on the periphery of the CFP conversation.
Their offense may struggle, but the Ducks’ 11th-ranked adjusted defensive efficiency against a backup QB is a recipe for an ugly cover by Oregon.
Under 45.5 (-115)
After Dante Moore went down for the season in the USC game, Oregon has played three of its last four games to final scores totaling 32 points or fewer. Though they showed some life offensively in their most recent game against Northwestern, this Ohio State defense features a much more menacing task relative to the Ducks’ ability to contribute to the total.
While the efficiency metrics have Oregon’s defense 11th nationally, that’s the same ranking Ohio State’s scoring defense carries, allowing 15.5 PPG. Backup quarterbacks lead to a slog in Columbus, correlating to the success of the underdog.
Dierre Hill Jr. Under 55.5 rushing yards (-114)
We’re targeting some reverse correlation with this game as it pertains to Oregon covering the spread, but Dierre Hill falling short of his rushing total of 55.5 yards at FanDuel falls right in line with our belief in a low-scoring game.
Hill has cleared this line in 4 out of 8 contests this season (50%) but rushed for just 21 yards last week in a positive game script against Northwestern as he took a back seat to Brandon Smith.
Ohio State allows the 12th-fewest rushing yards per game (95.8) in FBS.
