Kamario Taylor is back on the gridiron Saturday for an SEC showdown against Sam Leavitt as I make my Mississippi State vs. LSU prediction.
These star quarterbacks have a ton of talent, and both find themselves desperate to get their respective teams back into the win column in Week 7. No. 22 LSU is a 14.5-point betting favorite against No. 16 Mississippi State, with kickoff from Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge, La., set for noon ET (ESPN/Disney+).

Mississippi State +14.5 (-110 via FanDuel)
Taylor and the Bulldogs burned me and a lot of other bettors when they failed to cover +6 as a home underdog against No. 6 Alabama in their last game played. LSU is not nearly as dominant, losing to Ole Miss and most recently, blowing a big lead to No. 15 Kentucky in a walk-off overtime loss.
Mississippi State's defense is outside the top 100, which is why it's such a big underdog. However, Taylor can use his rocket arm to create explosive plays against an LSU defense that just gave up 246 passing yards to the Wildcats.
LSU has only forced one turnover in its previous two games played. Meanwhile, the Bulldogs have thrown for three-plus touchdowns in every contest, going over 280 passing yards in three of those matchups.
Mississippi State is 2-0 SU on the road in 2026. This is an early kickoff, which favors a two-touchdown underdog with an elite quarterback under center.
Go to FanDuel to bet on Mississippi State +14.5 at -110 odds.
📡 SBR Edge: Bulldogs' ATS Edge
Mississippi State is 4-1 ATS, compared to LSU's 2-4 ATS record.
Taylor and Leavitt electrify in passing game, Bulldogs pull off the upset
Mississippi State has had an extra week of rest and practice to prepare for this road trip to Baton Rouge. Taylor is a star, throwing for three-plus touchdowns in five straight starts and accounting for 250+ passing yards in four of those contests.
Leavitt is going to look the part against the Bulldogs' inferior pass defense. LSU's quarterback has put up a solid 67 percent completion rate, but he's been plagued by turnovers, throwing seven interceptions in his previous five appearances. Taylor's going to return to the Heisman Trophy conversation with another big-time passing display, leading Mississippi State to a 3-0 road record with an upset over LSU.
Score prediction: Mississippi State 38, LSU 34
