Miami vs. Wake Forest Prediction: Week 3 Odds, Picks & Best Bet
Last Updated: September 18, 2026 8:30 AM EDT • 3 minute read X Social Google News Link
My best Miami vs. Wake Forest prediction focuses on Darian Mensah and the offense of No. 5 Miami taking on a defense that just allowed 36 points to Purdue. Miami has outscored its first two opponents 122-13, and Mensah has more touchdown passes (8) than incompletions (4).
Miami is a 20.5-point betting favorite ahead of Friday's 7:30 p.m. ET game at Allegacy Federal Credit Union Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C. The game will air on ESPN and stream on ESPN Unlimited.

Over 55.5 (-112 via BetMGM)
Gio Lopez has been impressive as Wake Forest's starting QB this season, throwing for 575 yards and four touchdowns, while also adding 97 rushing yards. He's led Wake Forest to 38 points in each of its first two games, and while I don't expect that many points on Friday, I think Wake Forest poses a much bigger threat to Miami's defense than Florida A&M or Stanford.
While Miami has allowed just 13 points this season, Stanford was able to put together multiple drives of 60 yards or more. However, the Stanford offense, which has scored just 34 points this season, stalled in the red zone twice.
While Wake Forest has only scored a touchdown on four of its 10 red-zone trips this season, the Demon Deacons have come away with points nine times.
📡 SBR Edge
Dating back to last season, Mensah-led offenses have scored at least 42 points eight times.
Miami's offense is the real deal
Though I've focused on Wake Forest's offense thus far, Miami's is the story of this game. Against Stanford, Mensah led Miami to 549 yards, as he and Malachi Toney connected 12 times for 234 yards and three touchdowns. Wake Forest's defense, which allowed 455 yards to Purdue, including 329 passing yards, will have no answer for the Miami passing attack.
Not only will Wake Forest have to compete with Mensah, but the defense will also have to slow down Mark Fletcher Jr. and CharMar Brown. Both running backs are averaging over 5.5 yards per carry this season.
Score prediction: Miami 52 Wake Forest 17
