The No. 15 Saint Peter’s Peacocks are creating quite a stir among bettors ahead of their Sweet Sixteen matchup against the No. 3 Purdue Boilermakers on Friday.

There have been two notable wagers coming in on Saint Peter’s to not only beat Purdue on Friday, but to win the entire tournament.

BetMGM bettor wagered $4,000 on Saint Peter’s to win the National Championship at +20000 to win $800,000, and the Peacock’s odds are now +15000 to win it all.

It begs the question, is the increased action related to National Peacock Day also landing on March 25?

Alternatively, punters may expect the upset trend to continue after No. 1 seeds the Gonzaga Bulldogs, and Arizona Wildcats were eliminated from the tournament Thursday.

Or, perhaps, this is another clear indication of the burgeoning entertainment value sports gambling provides. These bettors must be more interested in adding their own chapter to Saint Peter’s Cinderella story.

The Peacocks are up to a 13-point underdog Friday, and a 15th-seeded team has never advanced past the Sweet Sixteen.

According to their respective betting insight releases, Saint Peter’s is taking the majority of money wagered on the spread and moneyline at both BetMGM and DraftKings Sportsbooks.

At BetMGM, the Peacocks have taken 62 percent of the spread handle and 82 percent of the moneyline handle, whereas 65 percent of the spread and 73 percent of the moneyline handles have come in on Saint Peter’s at DraftKings.

While there’s huge exposure for sportsbooks if Saint Peter’s wins, bookmakers probably aren’t sweating too much, even if it’s National Peacock Day.
