Ilya Mikheyev to the Vancouver Canucks

Mikheyev, 27, has played three seasons in the National Hockey League and had a hard time finishing in his first two seasons before breaking through with 21 goals in 53 games for the Toronto Maple Leafs last season.

A 6-foot-3 winger who is a strong skater capable of playing on either side, Mikheyev can control the run of play and it makes him a valuable middle-six winger. Given his reliable two-way play, the determining factor for Mikheyev’s value is largely going to be tied to his goal-scoring or point production.

If he builds on what happened in Toronto last season, Mikheyev will be a bargain for the Canucks. But if he reverts to scoring on 7.3% of his shots in all situations (as he did in his first two seasons), then the price could be a bit steep.

Mikheyev is a complementary player, so he is not going to move the market much. Vancouver is still likely to be battling for a playoff spot next season. Their Stanley Cup odds are priced at +4500 on DraftKings Sportsbook and FanDuel Sportsbook, and +5000 on Caesars Sportsbook.
