Does Releasing Amari Cooper Hurt Cowboys’ Odds?
The Dallas Cowboys are expected to release wide receiver Amari Cooper before the official start of the 2022 NFL season on Wednesday, March 16, NFL Insider Adam Schefter tweeted Friday.
Cooper is owed a fully guaranteed $20 million Sunday, March 20, if he isn’t released by the Cowboys.

Cooper spent three and a half years with the Cowboys and totalled 292 receptions for 3,893 yards and 27 touchdowns. Remember, too, Dallas traded a first-round selection in the 2019 NFL Draft to acquire Cooper.
Third-year wide receiver CeeDee Lamb projects to ascend to the top of the Dallas depth chart with Cooper out of the picture, and there could be an increased opportunity for fourth-year pass-catcher Cedrick Wilson Jr.. After all, Michael Gallup underwent knee surgery in February and is set to become an unrestricted free agent Wednesday, March 16.
It will also be interesting to see how bookmakers handicap Lamb’s available props leading into the season. Obviously, quarterback Dak Prescott’s lines will also be significantly impacted if Cooper is released.
