A bettor at BetMGM recently placed a $20,000 wager on the San Francisco 49ers (+1600) to win $320,000, the sportsbook announced Tuesday.
The sizable wager bumps the 49ers up to 4.3 of the ticket percentage and a 4.8 handle percentage. San Francisco now has the seventh highest ticket percentage and is tied with the reigning champion Los Angeles Rams (+1100) for the seventh largest handle percentage.
There’s some uncertainty surrounding the 49ers after advancing to the NFC Championship Game with consecutive upsets over the Dallas Cowboys and Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card Round and Divisional Round, respectively.
Current starting quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo isn't guaranteed to remain with the organization, as it’s widely speculated that third overall selection in the 2021 NFL Draft Trey Lance will take over as the No. 1 quarterback after Garoppolo is traded during the offseason.
Shedding Garoppolo’s salary ($27.5 million) will open up additional cap space to sign star pass-rusher Nick Bosa and receiver Deebo Samuel to contract extensions. Plus, starting guard Laken Tomlinson is a free agent the 49ers would like to have back on the offensive line in 2022.
Here’s a peek at the rest of the information released by BetMGM.

As noted yesterday, the Broncos love is likely tied to the potential of quarterback Aaron Rodgers following his former offensive coordinator Nathaniel Hackett to Denver. Hackett was named head coach of the Broncos on Jan. 27.
It’s also interesting to see the Lions with the eighth highest ticket count. Perhaps, there is an avenue to the postseason if Rodgers does relocate, though. Green Bay’s outlook would take a serious hit, and the Bears and Vikings also have multiple question marks. Furthermore, there would definitely be hedging opportunities if the Lions made the playoffs.
How about the lack of interest in the Cowboys?
Dallas ranks 12th in ticket percentage (3.5%) and 11th in handle percentage (3.4%) despite tying for the fourth shortest odds. Expect the public to weigh in sooner than later on America’s Team. It would be surprising to see their odds climb significantly given the talent on the roster and their popularity.
