Well sticking to my original picks paid off. 2-1 instead of throwing any back on the other matches as the night goes through. Sticking to it.
Australian Open: Day 8 [January 22]
Parlay: Ferrer + Zheng [+110] Ferrer v. Gasquet should be a fun match-up. Gasquet was uber impressive in dismantling Tipsarevic last match and Ferrer showed more of his grind ability as he overcame an 0-4 start in the 1st set to roll in straights over Chela. Although the two have not met in a couple years, the head-2-head shows that Ferrer's game does trouble Gasquet. I think that comes down to consistency. Ferrer has more of it whereas Gasquet can put up a performance like Tipsarevic, but more often finds himself going to those pretty/big shots instead of grinding points. Ferrer needs to start better, but if he does, I think he's got better fitness of the two to survive. Zheng v. Errani. The "other" Chinese player has looked excellent in Melbourne and Errani really is not a good hard court player. Zheng quietly is 8-0 on this surface this season and has not looked troubled yet. Errani's serve should get punished finally today.
Nishikori-Tsonga Over 37.5 [-120]
Ivanovic +4.5 [-105]
Fun Parlay: Ferrer + Zheng + Sharapova + Melzer/Petzschner [+270]

Kvirova manhandling Ana .. like so many would like to do. Not overly terrible, but her 2nd serve has been getting crushed whereas Kvitova's has been equal or better than her 1st.

The nishi- Tsonga over seems like a good play.
I'm starting to like the +10 Kukuskin vrs. Murray. I think Kuku could keep it within 10.

I think that handicap is accurate. Murray isn't Monfils - meaning all business IMO. And having just played this guy in Brisbane, he's already got the tape on his game. Sure, he dropped a set to him, but then he steamrolled him the last two sets. I think KuKu is gonna be out of gas tonight. I have a feeling it's straight sets and the 10 is probably a push unless Murray's serve is a little jumpy then you might get in at 9. Not a big edge to me though.

I know Kuku has played a lot more tennis...maybe this will be a factor for the handicap. Murray has been all business lately but he throws in some bad sets from time to time. We'll see - haven't made up my mind yet.

I just don't think the books are stupid. They set those handicaps to entice us. After what he did to Llodra, it's a scary proposition IMO.

Retirement for Kuku. Murray/Tsonga should be a good match.

Heat is screwing with a lot of people today I think.
I was baking after 15mins outside. It will only get more uncomfortable for the next 2-3 hours atleast.

I hope Zheng quits if she's gonna lose to this broad. She just seems unfocused. Up 40-0 on a couple service games I think and she wound up blowing them.
These lopsided sets with Nishi-Tsonga aren't helping much.

This is shaping up to be a terrible night. Cannot believe this fukk is going to lose pretty badly in straights to f-ing Errani.
Tsonga lookin' like poop too. Gonna need that to go 5 though to have a shot at that over the way these sets are going.

Best you'd get on Ferrer-Gasquet are some cut-ins. Maybe ESPN3 online.
Zheng has blown some many service games where she was crusing for easy holds. Sheesh. Well my day is fukked.

Well if she loses that would really open the draw up. Only one set though.
I had Under 39.5 on Ferrer-Gasquet today. With the heat that could be helpful too.
Damn Tsonga. 6-1? Wow. I knew Nishi would push him, but he's getting dominated.

Serena losing wouldn't shock me, Tsonga losing would. Everything I had been reading this year before the Aussie was that this year could be the year where he takes place in the big four. The biggest purse on the tour seems like a great place to start his ascendancy .

Tsonga losing would be a mild shock. Nishikori has already shown he can handle him in previous encounters, so it's not a massive upset in my books. He makes Tsonga work on every point and is playing a smart match when he gets in rallies, he's working Tsonga's backhand over.
If this goes five, it's going to be an ugly fifth set I think. Both guys you can tell have already left a lot on the court in the heat.
