#1717ATP MIAMI
HAASE +157
So which Tipsarevic do we get this week? The one who made the Chennai semis? The one who lost the Delray Beach final? The one who lost to Devvarman at the Davis Cup or the one who lost to Querrey in Indian Wells? Too many questions for me. Haase is just 5-6 in ATP events this season, but his losses have all been competitive outside of a whipping bu Soderling. He lost last week to Schuettler at Indian Wells 7-6, 7-5 in a match he said he had very little energy and preparation time due to Davis Cup travel prior to the event. That should not be the case this week. When Haase is on, he brings some of the same weapons as Tipsarevic - big serve and a big forehand.
FOGNINI +185
Two players in "meh" form here. Stepanek is the big favorite, but maybe not justified. Outdoor hard courts have not traditionally been kind to him as he is about a 53% winner on the surface for his career. He has lost three of his last four on this surface since a nice run in Brisbane early this year. Some predictably tough against Del Potro & Isner, but also losing to Chela. Fognini has lost eight straight on this surface, but rarely does not give himself chances. Coincidentally his last win on an outdoor hard court came against Stepanek last summer in Toronto.

#1719Given Schnyder's underwhelming win yesterday and her ass whipping from Cornet at Indian Wells, I would think Safarova has a good shot.
Damn Haase ran out to a 4-2 lead and lost the first set 6-4. Putz.Comment -

#1722BERANKIS +105
Was trying to find a reason not to back my boy Berankis today against Felciano Lopez and well, there's not enough for me to not give him a whirl. These two met at Wimbledon and Berankis acquitted himself well on the Grand Slam stage for the first time with a four set loss that was pretty tight. Berankis has continue to work hard and looks to be on the rise. He was forced out at Indian Wells with a back problem, but has trained this week with no issues. Interesting to note that Lopez has been his training partner for parts of the lead-up here in Miami. Lopez himself has been a mess with a 3-7 mark at ATP level events this year. Lopez is always capable of turning it on and winning, but his desire is always a question. That should not be the question for the young Lithuanian looking to rise in the rankings. He'll need to do a better job of getting his 1st serve in consistently, something that pestered him last week but may have been due in part to the back issue.

#1723Haase goes down 6-4, 7-6. I had it at +3, but switched to the money line. Don't think Tipsarevic was unbeatable at all today, but Haase did not show enough consistency.Comment -

#1730STAKHOVSKY -108
Going against the other wunderkind today in Dimitrov. He just has not shown the ability on a consistent basis to step up against Top 40-types on most surfaces. He will, I have no doubts - but right now, haven't seen enough from him. Stakhovsky has been pretty consistent on this surface over the past year plus a few months. Outside of a stray loss or two, his losses on outdoor courts have come to top tier talent. He'll need to bring his "A" serve today and I will not be surprised to see Dimitrov start fast as he has some court time from qualis in Miami. I think over the course of the match though that Stakhovsky will have just a bit more consistency.

#1736Yeah Sock is supposed the be the next big thing for America on the tennis scene. At least he's real young, maybe he can develop. US needs a men's player who can be good again. Querrey & Isner were not the answers and they're both floundering now.Comment -

#1737WTA boycott over lol.
Which of the following heavy favorite should I choose to add to one of my parlay:
Maria Sharapova or Shuai Peng?
Anyone have any info on Aravane Rezai? Never heard of her and she's playing against Peng.Comment -

#1749CALTANISSETTA CHALLENGER: SCHOOREL -125
The Dutch youngster is back on his preferred clay surface and it has shown this week. He was made to work in his opener, but absolutely dominated his 2nd round match. Ungur is his opponent. Ungur took out the top seed Volandri, but he's beaten him before & Volandri has been total horse shit this year. I give Schoorel the edge with his big serve that can dominate. Ungur is the more experienced player here, but Schoorel is a talent that needs more seasonsing but can win this type of match.

#1750FRIDAY DEUCE: MALISSE + RADWANKSA +107
Malisse draws Llodra and Llodra is just a different player on an outdoor hard court vs. the indoor court. Outdoors, he's just 18-32 in his last 50 matches. He's 2-3 this year. Malisse looked good against Sweeting to open and is coming in off a solid showing at Indian Wells. Should be lots of big serving here, but Malisse seems to show better on the surface. Radwanska is up against Strycova who has some okay results on this surface in 2011 with a 7-4 mark. She generally though has lacked the ability to topple players in the Top 20 on the surface. Radwanska is a solid 8-4 on this surface & outside of a loss to Safarova in Doha, her losses are to WTA premier players. She's got a good track record in Miami, while Strycova's win over youngster Sloane Stephens was just her 2nd in six matches here all-time. At the end of the day, Radwanska has the consistency in her ground strokes and defense to trouble Strycova. Would be best if she could start fast and not have to dig her way out of a hole.
