I think he can lose this match more than the price says. Schoorel isn't exactly a dud and Troicki is coming off re-aggravating that stomach muscle strain two weeks ago. Plus he's not exactly the most mentally strong player. It's only a small bet for me. I'd hate to pass up that price when the signs are there to take it but I'm not willing to risk a lot of money in the first round. That's what the second and third rounds are for.

Zverev +4 gets well beaten by Cilic but Llodra +4 comes through for a nice win, with 0.25Units on the spread and ML for both plays that puts me slightly ahead for the day. Gulang really should have forced at least one tie-break with the way I was seeing the game on the scoreboard, but didn't watch the game so who knows - anyway a push on that play.
I really like Phau +5.5 against Hewitt and think he is one of those players where is form is better than his record, but will keep the same units on it, 0.25.

This won't factor in to the outcome of the match, but I just wanted to point out that Phau is two years OLDER than Hewitt.

have the hewitt and youzhny matches been delayed or did my bookies have there dates wrong? hewitt was apparantly suppose to play already while they had youzhny for 8 hours from now. they have changed that but was that there own mistake or did they postpone the matches?

genuine question: if you aren't really a full year tennis better, is it really worth doing the form for these minor tournaments? WTA seems like a lottery - chances to cash some dogs, but seems like a huge grind and ATP doesn't seem much better.
i've tried a few times in the last week and haven't found myself finding anything to have a decent wager on...

Yes I didn't mean to imply that Phau is younger, but I think the odds are overvalued here in Hewitts favour due to what he did in Australia - where he was always going to be up for giving his best showing given the home crowd. Even then he only won on his favourite surface (grass). In reality he has been in poor form and had probably his worst year ever in 2010.

If you have other sports that are earning you a profit then I'd say no. To bet these tournaments properly requires a lot of time. That's why line movement guys and steam chasers get buried often. Same as when someone just makes a bet 'because the price is good' or a player is top 10 and their opponent has barely cracked the top 100. There are so many factors that come into making tennis bets if you're doing it properly and even then your player still might lose obviously. Add into that the number of matches each day and it can be pretty daunting. That's why there are so many threads in the tennis forum graveyard - someone hits a few dogs or massive ML parlays and think they've got tennis betting figured out so they start a thread. After a week or maybe a month, their ass has been handed to them and they realize the work required is quite immense so they give up, maybe to reappear during a Slam.
If you're doing well elsewhere, I'd honestly say to stick with those sports unless you're willing to put the work in and acknowledge the fact that betting on individuals as opposed to teams requires a lot more work.

thanks for reply. i never started a thread about my plays or had my arse handed to me on tennis, but that about summed up what i was thinking... i just don't have the time for it.
i'll just tail you i think! except i'll do my own work during the slams and bigger tourneys... and the all star break when I have nothing else to look over!

Tailing me might get you in trouble too!!
But yeah, if you've made money from the Aussie Open I'd preserve it and spend your time focusing on sports that you have more knowledge about for the time being. Whenever anyone asks me, I always tell them to start by focusing on a few players and slowly start betting their matches. After awhile introduce a few more players to the mix and so on. But of course that doesn't appeal to the action junkie in a lot of us so that gets thrown out the window when someone wants to get a bet down and there's nothing else available.

Find a math system to beat tennis. Im actually surprised that a Jeff Sagarin kinda math geek hasnt figured out a way to create one. Or just use my tennis totals system that is 100% 50,000 gold star lock to win you 65% of your bets...

The theory is sound Shari, but it doesn't appeal to me! Especially when you factor in the time difference for almost all tennis tourneys for me and my lifestyle.
I like my hit and run approach (when the other sports are quiet or its slam time!) even if it doesn't work out that well its never a huge loss and can go really well. I think if i tried to do tennis all year around, i'd lose big. despite this, i still think i have a pretty good idea of what to look at... i just think tennis is one of huge grinds sports unless you REALLY put the work in, like you do.
it'd be nice if it was like poker and i could get some rake back on tennis betting

Hewitt is overpriced considering he hasn't even played on the surface in ages. Unfortunately for me, he's playing Phau and I can't justify even putting $10 on him in the hope Hewitt is rusty or tired. Not saying others shouldn't but I already tested the waters by fading Troicki to see where he stood physically so I'm staying away from this one and will use that $10 on the women today instead.

Yeah, its hard to say Hewitt's form at this stage, a good bet would be a parlay of 2-0 set for Jie Zhang. Shes got value and Im pretty confident she'll take this. The chinese are out to prove something this year and superstitious rabbit year.
Anycase best of luck to everyone. Ill log on later to see ur late night plays Shari. thanks

Who says no one has found one =p
I believe the geeks just dont like to share. In addition, geeks arent after fame but to make money.
Sometimes, the best kept secrets remain secrets.
There are no such sure systems unless ur playing arbitage systems, however there are very successful systems. If you have a total systems at 65% sign me up w/ the math formula and I would definitely be a guinea pig in testing it out.

I'm sure everybody that is a successful gambler has their own little tips and tricks and systems that are profitable. I sure as hell am not telling people how I go about things.
Im not saying that my systems are anywhere near 65%, but i know they are profitable long term.

Odds look juicy for a 2-0 win. Concerned that the wrist may be untested though.. I guess wins 2-0 or loses the match...hmmm

I wouldn't go for 2-0 set for Jie Zhang. She may take this, which I hope, but it's her first match in a very long time.

You should always doubt. . This one is more of a fade of Falla. You're right in that Dabul has never played on the surface but Falla has and he's been pretty shocking lately. It's just one of those ones where if the stars and the moon align like how the numbers say they should, then Dabul has a much greater chance than what the price says. Then again he could always get smoked out there too.
Dikefale - sorry I just jumped on now. I didn't touch that match and the price on both sides were pretty spot on.
