would like to know your reason why? simon is 4-0 in the series and plays well enough on hard court even though they never played each other hard court. this is a no all together for me. if troicki wins, yeah you told me so.

Dont be fooled by the H2H, the last game played was in 2009, that a long time between tennis. I live in Sydney and have been at the matches watching them live. I belive this is Troicki's tourney, he is play some brilliant tennis and Im expecting him to move up in rankings significantly this year.

If you like Simon, go for it, I wont try and convince you otherwise. For me its TROICKI, GL

A lot of followers in these SBR threads jumps on a pick when someone write "thank me later" / "this is a easy win" etc...a lesson is - don't push the button. See the match live if you can - Simone owned Troicki today.

How do winners of these early season lead up tournaments usually go in the Aussie Open?

There are a lot of people who come in my thread whether you see them posting here or not. However I'm hoping that they're coming into a thread with my name in the title because they're interested in my picks and opinions, not to just jump on whatever pick they see posted in here by whomever. No one should ever be telling anyone who to take in the Finals of a tournament with any confidence as the quality of player is usually so comparable that it's difficult to make a definitive pick. I've stated this several times in this thread and throughout the forum and that's precisely why I didn't post any bets today myself.

I don't mind if anyone posts plays in here if they're not up for starting their own thread, but please respect the way people treat each other in here and the positive vibe we've had going for months now. If you guys are going to be nasty to each other, please just take it to another thread or via PM.

How do winners of these early season lead up tournaments usually go in the Aussie Open?

It's hard to say because there are so many factors involved and sometimes results can be misleading either way. I was telling a friend today who wanted to dump a lot of money on Mattek-Sands to beat Groth to either take Groth or not bet at all. Her draw is so crappy at the Aussie Open - she has Wickmayer in the first round - that you have to assume she was going to just go for it as hard as she could today, even risking injury if it came to that, because in all actuality her chances of advancing past Wick aren't that great.

Then you have someone like Na Li who always seem to love the Australian swing and performs her best at the beginning of the year. Winning the title in Sydney will I'm sure be a massive confidence boost for her next week. On the other hand, someone like Mattek-Sands may be starting to feel the burn from playing so many matches in the past 2 weeks, especially against a few strong opponents.

And on top of that, we really don't know which players weren't exactly putting 100% into their matches, especially when the weather turned to crap in Sydney and Hobart which caused matches to back up, because they wanted to conserve energy and just get down to Melbourne so they can get settled into their hotels and routines and prepare for next week. Their opponents' wins against them may not be as impressive as they appear.

So for me personally, I focus on how individuals performed as far as stats are concerned and try to ignore some of the other factors I rely on as the season progresses. Tournaments the week before a Slam are always dodgy indicators of a player's form under normal conditions. When it's the first tournament after the break, that makes it that much more difficult to figure out.

If I knew that, I'd load up on him right now. I do think he can win the match but he's going to have a bit of trouble. Terrible draw for him but that's what happens when you're outside of the top 30 - you get stuck in the general population and end up paying for it.
