You do realize that the winner of this match guaranteed themselves an additional 10k.....which is another 20k if they win tomorrow.....and another 40k if they win Sunday! So unless someone stuffed 70k down his pocket, not likely money enticed him to lose, lol.

It's actually a pretty cheap/standard payout for the 250s at this point in the season. Now later in the Fall, some of the 250s have some better prize money that do make them worth more of an effort. Always things to consider.

Comment was tongue in cheek, I didn't mean it in a literal sense but I'm sure in lower leveled tournaments its happened before

Honestly at this stage, I think any of the four guys left can win it. Isner is still not playing real solid tennis and looks fatigued some to me. Cilic has to be a little bit tired, although he has had the benefit of some quick matches with days of rest in between and might be the favorite. Anderson just grinds through with little fanfare. I think he can beat Johnson who got Haas not at his best and Lopez looking thoroughly disinterested. He's one of the few guys here who has motivation since it's his backyard they're playing in. As long as he makes the Final, you can get some cheddar on that futures play.

Isner's neck seems to be a little bit of an issue.

I think it was you that pointed out a qualifier made the finals in like 4 straight years if I am not mistaken? Tempted to take Johnson if that's the case since he is playing pretty well.

It's two straight. I'm skipping that and riding the Anderson future. I'm a fan of Johnson, but I'm not really sure how well he's actually playing this week. He's got big name scalps, but I know that Lopez played like he did not care yesterday and I still think Haas is already showing some slippage this year. People will point out him making that Zagreb Final, but he didn't beat anyone of note to get there. I've got to see more from Haas to say that beating him at this stage is a solid win.

If you care for my opinion, it's a case of both: He did play quite well (on an absolute basis, not a relative one), but his opponents also did not.

Thanks professor, appreciate it. I haven't watched a ton this week because a lot are on while I "work" ... weighing something on Cilic still. Even though he won, the Isner I watched last night looked like absolute horse shit. Rhyne Williams outstunk him.

What I mean by that, by the way, is that saying Djokovic plays well is different from saying Johnson plays well. Overall though he was solid and came up with some spectacular shots even. I think the odds are about right to be honest.

I just think he's like Venus Williams because of the condition he has - you never know what type of energy he is going to have in a given week. If you can guess on a week like this that he is going to be hot, you can make money hand over fist ... but then you'll find people in his next tournament paying too much for him probably and he might lose in the 1st round.

Don't think this one is gonna make 3. Ferrer looking weak today, but he always has that ability to break out of nowhere.

I believe dolgo played ferrer tough at the French open last year as well. He does play to the level of his opponent alot. I think your right with his sickness. I just like to blame it on other things. Do bad we didn't know what kind of cycles his disease runs in.
