I've heard this week watching wimbledon some of the most idiotic comments by presenters I have ever heard in any sport. Switched to a non-english channel and I feel much better as I don't understand a thing they are saying.

I don't think it's a phenomenon in every country in every sport. For example as far as I know there are a lot of Germans that don't like/support Vettel in F1.

I don't even know if Irish or Scots would support an English sports-man like the English do with Murray. English can't wait to have a reason to feel proud, even if it has nothing to do with them.

Well definitely not the Irish since they aren't British.

Probably not the Scots either. They hate us.

The thing is the country can unite at times, such as during the Olympics, but deep down nobody really likes each other. GB soccer team has already announced they have no intention of fielding a team in 2016 for the Olympics, just did it for the ones at home.

It's not. If somehow for some reason Isner made the US open Final he would have the crowd of course, but it would be more like 75% and some Americans would just root against him for the hell of it. I know I would at least.
