I used to work at BetUS for about a year and they asked for documentation usually before the withdrawl process. Only in some instances in which docs were asked before the initial deposit, if a customer has an outstanding issue with a diff book or they are linked to family members that have had a history of chargebacks.

Now why sportsbooks don't ask for docs right away?? Simply put, most ppl sign up to bet on a big evernt (football season, Superbowl, march madness, etc) and they would not deposit in the first place if they had to send docs immediately. There would be a lot of lost business

Good point, if I had to provide info. just to lay a wager I would most likely be swayed not to participate.

My vote goes for security, and in some occasions slow down the payout but mainly security. Specially with ************, i guess they dont ask for it in advance because there is a 50/50 chance that you will lose and there is no need to bother you on your first visit to the site with something they may not even need.

I do notice that in the case of CCs, they do ask for IDs from the get go depending on the amount you deposit.

I don't think it's stalling - if a book wants to turn rouge there are plenty of way they can run away with your money, i.e; just don't pay you.

That said in some cases they can get quite pedantic about it, and complain about the resolution of images you send them etc.

Particulrly in the UK and no doubt in other jurisdictions aswell, bookies have to comply with srict money laundering laws. Requests for further ID can be triggered by what would be considered as potentially unusual activity on an account, like withdrawing money before you have wagered it through.

I support this kind of verification the identity of their customers as long as it doesn't get out of control like asking for a photo holding your passport next to your face. Without controls multi account players would be an expensive problem, and the bookies wouldn't offer promotions any longer.

My book sends me authorization form attachment which I cannot open after trying multiple programs. Sometimes I wonder if they really do go out of their way to make complying with their rules a real pain in the ass.

Completely different set of circumstances for the U.S. player.

Also, let us not forget that this is a postup(prepaid cash) business.

Again, as long as you work out payout requirements before you deposit, most books will work with you on your legit privacy concerns. Establish an account in good standing, don't deposit via methods that require it, establish a payout password, don't try to circumvent limits and smaller players from the U.S. should never have to document.

They have to protect themselves somehow from fake accounts that will just take a bonus, scalp it out whenever they see a weak line for a second, and cash out. Greek for example wants ID and you can be sure it is not for stalling.

it's not stalling but there are always cry babies who say it is, it's a security procedure and is vital but most bettors have no idea how it works on the other side of the fence.

That does not change the fact and has little to do with the initial question which is rather it is a stall tactic or for security purposes. The fact is things get dicey when it comes to books paying players out. You can always get money in but its not so easy to get it out. Just because books post on there sites that you should be ready to provide certain info does not take away from the fact that it can be a stall tactic. Everyone does not have a utility bill in there name and current address. There may be multiple people living there and they don't pay that bill. Some books will use that as a sticking point. When you expose them they may then allow you to provide another type of document. In a lot of cases these type of tactics are used to stall even though they are posted. You would think that books have more understanding than to demand a certain document that is not required of you to legally possess but you may find they don't because it is not about legality or security. Finally, books dealing with US customers are not complying with US laws or security anyway so anyone that gives them this cop-out should not be on a site like this because they are basically a shill or someone that is not for the people, which in this case is the sports gambler and that is what this site is suppose to be for.

just more excuses for not having provided ID up front before it becomes an issue

there are always alternatives for those who don't have utility bills ... but most seem incapable even of recognising that a mobile phone is a utility!

I never mentioned US laws. Books have to comply with whatever regulations are applicable in their own jurisdictions.

I've never experienced any problem of this nature. You must be playing at some rogue books.

...then if your privacy and identity security is more important, don't take the bonus, or tell the book in advance that your not a bonus whore

btw, you have an excellent point
