The broken system benefits the UKGC and books too much.

Hopefully too many breaches will eventually give weight to the argument that the UKGC is ineffective and should be recommending a third party solution to responsible gambling and money laundering issues.

UKGC are an absolute bunch of clueless CU next Tuesdays.

Basically fecking up an entire industry and making more and more people go to unregulated sites etc

And they still cant stop some of the most obvious player protection things that they could, aka pending withdrawals, max bet button right next to the spin button etc

A lot of UK betting shops will close in 2019 because of the incoming slot machine regulations. It won't directly affect the UK books online but it may cause a shift in their gaming priorities.

A lot of the betting that was in the shops has gone online. Shops were making up the difference with £100 slots. The UK government is outlawing these slots from March 2019. Without that business a lot of shops will become unprofitable and betting chains will close them. Big books' business model is set up for higher juice because of the overheads that shops have. If shops close the big books may look to change their business model. How they change isn't clear. 1 possibility is they focus more on the online business and reduce juice. Another possibility is they become more active in non-UK markets. UK chains may become targets for US or Asian based books. Clearly the loss of slots won't hurt their online operations but changes are coming to the UK market and change is unpredictable. Much will depend on UK regulations but the regulations invariably come down from UK politicians who aren't industry friendly and pamper to moral guidelines. Add to that the instability in UK politics with Brexit approaching and hey...who knows what's coming.
