Torres is out and will be replaced by Pedro. On paper, it looks like a huge blow for Spain, but torres has been a shell of himself in this cup. Thoughts?

Personally, although he is undoubtably a world-class player, I think Torres has been disappointing (at best) and the Spanish side has seemed stronger with him on the bench.

Not to mention he still remains a possible sub to come in with fresh legs on the attack...I say the net result for ESP this move is slightly positive at best to neutral at worst.

Pedro could bring some much needed life to the attack. He played fairly well against Paraguay as a sub. He got overlooked a little because of Fabregas, but was effective after a quick jitter to start. I like this lineup. Del Bosque gives himself plenty of sub options in the 2nd half with it.

It's a smart move to put Torres on the pine. Torres, since moving to Liverpool, just hasn't fit in with the Spainish side for some reason. Also, he's not even close to being back on form... He hasn't even looked 'average', yet. Kudos to Spain for trying to get him back to speed, but he hasn't been threatening at all the entire tourney and it will be awhile before he's even close to the player he can be. Knee injuries is a beeeetch.

Agree with EaglesPhan on the assessment of Spain's lineup/bench options.

Torres out. I think this is good for Spain. He didn't do much this year.
