you might want to check out the foul which was cause for the free kick. you will see there was no foul at all. none.

i'd understand if small country would be crying over ref decisions, e.g. 1st minute elbow blow. but the biggest country in tournament plays the smallest, gets a free kick from non-foul and then crying of being robbed?!

usa will advance as it deserves, wit a win over algeria. if they don't win, they dont deserve it.
england and slovenia will have to settle for remaining ticket - fair enouf.

If this was a disallowed goal, then van Persie had another earlier on against Denmark when he didn't hear the whistle. Unless you believe it makes a difference if one second passes after the whistle or three seconds.

On a sidenote. If FIFA should take anything out of this game it is to warn all the refs that the US is flopping all around the penalty box to get to their set plays. I have never actually seen a coach celebrate the fact that a free kick was given until this game, after 'Manu' Altidore did a horrible impersonation of a flop. Yes, the ref was bad. He should have never given that free kick.

What's wrong with this US team anyway? Dempsey who wants to set the tone early with an elbow in the face, Altidore flopping all night, and last but not least Donavan who's always asking for cards for opponents... And those are the leaders on the team? Terrible. A total lack of sportsmanship that deserves a ref like this. Start playing soccer, or do everyone a favor and go home.
this post is comical. just another US hater. the goal did happen buddy. wether is was disallowed by a premature whistle makes no difference. and the fact that you are trying to single out the US team for flopping and asking for cards is simply stupid. every soccer team on this planet dives and begs for cards. like i said, YOURE A HATER

Cut all the "US doesn't understand football" bullshit. They have proven they are a decent team and fully belong at the World Cup. The goal was scored and the whistle going off was robbery, plain and simple. There were at least two American players being flagrantly fouled, either of those warranted a penalty kick, and they scored anyway.
And the ref was biased the whole game. Calling a hand ball on an American player when it hit his cheek?

Please. Americans don't understand football because they sometimes flop or ask for cards for opponents? Who are the defending world champions, again? ... I suppose the Italians don't know how to play football (or understand it) either? The U.S. is a better than average team and they will go forward despite the robbery. Anyone who says they don't understand football is delusional.

Its easy to hate the US and its soccer. If you put a different color uniform on the team and show soccer fans a replay of the game most would agree that the call was ridiculous. Anyone see the Italy-NZ game today? Italy got a penalty kick on a foul that was less obvious than the foul on Bradley. Yes! you can hear the whistle before the goal. If the play is dead at the time of the whistle, then give US a penalty kick like they deserve. Although they fell behind 2-0, US was clearly the better team and deserved a better fate that a tie.
