He gave a foul against USA on every set piece, he didn't send off the Slovenia defender for a clear ref card offense, he then denied a perfectly legit goal infact USA could have even been awarded a penalty.

The ref is from Mali, they don't have a professional league, they barely have a professional national team and they are letting this mickey mouse ref who looks drunk, high and out of it be in charge of a world cup game. These African refs from these countries shouldn't be able to even dream of refereeing such a big game.

Anyway USA should still qualify, 2-2 result is good as England will smoke Slovenia, load up on it

They were the favorites and they won as favorites are supposed to. They did their job, they were just screwed over by the idiot ref.

Being favorite does not equate to who "should" have won. For starters, the better team (or the more likely winner under one set of circumstances on one given day) is not always the favorite.

Also, USA ML was + money. So even as the favorite, the number was set giving a USA win less than 50% of the time, more likely than not they "should" not have won.

The fact that they should have won has nothing to do with them being the favorite. They should have played better in 1H and the referee should have performed better.

This certainly is a big deal. Missing to acknowledge a goal is pretty bad, don't you think? He either should have acknowledged it or called for a penalty kick and he did neither one. I don't blame the referee per se but rather FIFA who picks the referees who supposedly should represent the best ones in their respective countries...can you tell I sound bitter after the Germany game this afternoon?

I don't think the ref called offside. It appears he blew the whistle on a foul. I think his mistake was he didn't allow the free kick to be taken again because people where just tangled up. He was very lenient to Dempsey earlier when he elbowed the Slovenian player in the back of the head on the header. My guess is this ref was cautioned by FIFA before the game started to not show yellow cards like the previous ref in Germany-Serbia. That could have influenced his ability to call the game the way he wanted since he was not a very experienced ref in the international scene.

Yea, this ref wont be doing any of the knock out stage games, and were gonna still qualify, so big deal. It was an exciting game, and hats off to Slovenia for bringing the challenge to us. Landon's goal almost took the face off their keeper. Go USA!

US were tactically put to shame in the first half, the manager was at fault, their rigid 4-4-2 had no answers to Slovenias better organized and more creative 4-4-2. The way Slovenia kept their lines was impressive and they got inbetween the US disorganized lines with ease.

Tactically you have to be very critical of the US team, they fought their way back into that game with a tactical change in the second half and an inspirational performance by Donavan.

They will need to be better against Algeria, I still think the US will qualify but the manager needs to be more tactically aware and ready to make shifts, have plan B's and C if needed.

Slovenia played a good game, their defense looked suspect when put under pressure and aerial balls though. The US drastically need to improve their defense, organization and cohesiveness in the next game.

I expect the US to come out against Algeria like they did against Egypt last year in the Confed Cup. Knew what they had to do then and did it, and they'll go into the Algeria game knowing that a convincing win will erase any doubt about whether or not they'll qualify for the round of 16. Hopefully today was a wakeup call for them. They played in the second half like they knew what was at stake, so I'm confident that they'll be in the right frame of mind come Wednesday.

Not happy at all about not getting the win, especially when the ref had way too much say in the final result, but given how bad things started, I'll take the point.
