Surprised you didn't pick your LASK Linz today.

Covered my Over 3.5 in 30 minutes.

    EDIT:
    4-2 in 40' min and 7 yellows (1 red).

Gun shy after the last two matches didn't make it. Didn't like the match-up either as Kapfenburg wasn't scoring much prior to today ... 7-2 final. We'll see if I reload that gun for their next match. Bastards!

        Play #178: [Champions League] APOEL Nicosia +0.5, +1 (-108)
While the Portugese side has been very tough at home, they have had some issues on the road. Porto lost 2 of their last 3 on the road and are just 2-4-2 in their last 8 on the road in the Champions League. APOEL meanwhile have played four home matches in the CL in 2009, winning 3 and losing one (1-0 to Chelsea). That loss to Chelsea ended a 24 match unbeaten streak at home for the Cypriots. Porto won the home leg of this 2-1 with APOEL's goal coming off a Porto player, while the Portugese side scored their 2nd goal on a penalty kick. APOEL still has a host of injuries to their backline, so protecting their goal should again be top priority. APOEL can ill-afford to fall behind in this match as an early Porto goal could really hinder their efforts to protect their goal, so if they play conservatively I think the chances of a draw are fairly solid & at home in front of a raucous crowd, they shouldn't lose by more than one at worst which would yield just a half stakes loss.

Let me give you some info about APOEL:

APOEL has no important missings on defense. Here is the most probable starting lineup:

G - Chiotis (ex Greece national team keeper)
              RB - Poursaitides (Greece)
LB - Elia (Cyprus national team)
              CB - Broerse (Dutch)
CB - Kontis or Grancharov (Greece/Macedonia)

The only ones missing are Hadxi (Albania) and Jorge (Portugal) but they are always rotating so the replacements are as good or better. Hadxi and Jorge could be on the bench and used if needed.

DM - Morais (Portugal - played for Chelsea under Murinho)
DM - Michael (Cyprus national team - captain)
              RM - Breska (Slovakia)
LM - Charalambides (Cyprus national team)

Kosowski (Poland) is available on the bench as well as Alexandrou (Cyprus national team).

FW - Pinto (Portugal) - He is actually playing both midfield and offense
              FW - Mirosavlevic (Serbia)

Papathanasiou (Cyprus national team) will be on the bench.

Only ones missing from offense are Zewlacow (Poland) and Sikora (Poland). APOEL only starts with one central forward so they couldn't all start anyway.

Thanks for the info! Polish forwards Adrian Sikora and Marcin Zewlakow are out. Polish midfielder Kamil Kosowski, Portuguese defender Paulo Jorge and Albanian midfielder Altin Haxhi are also doubtful. I know all are not starters, just passing along what I read as well.

Carib is the worst soccer book IMO. They don't offer jack shit on totals for anything. Their prices are about as far outta wack as Bookmaker for soccer, but at least Bookmaker gives you totals options - but if you are betting soccer, you definitely need BetPhoenix, 5 Dimes or BetUS I hear is fairly solid for the sport as well.

                          Play #179: [Champions League] F.C. Zurich +1.5, +2 (-132)
Marseilles won away in the first leg, 1-0. Zurich however has played exceedingly solid football on the road in the CL. They are 3-0, including the surprising 1-0 win over A.C. Milan. Since they began their domestic season in July, Zurich has only been beaten by multiple goals on the road twice in 11 tries. They have gone 8 straight overall without losing by more than one goal. Marseilles followed their win over Zurich with a 1-1 draw at home to Toulouse. Their only home match in the CL this go was a 2-1 loss to A.C. Milan. Their home form overall is far from impressive with a 1-2-2 record in their last five. Since their domestic campaign began, they have only beaten one club by more than a goal at home and that was a two goal win over Montpellier which has given up the most road goals in Ligue 1. Loser of this one also knows their chances of progressing from Group C (Milan,Real Madrid) are all but gone. I"m a bit surprised Marseilles is this big a favorite (-334) even after winning on the road. Outside of getting smoked by Real Madrid on the road, this Zurich club has lost by one goal margins to Zurich & Maribor in their only other CL losses. Marseilles may likely walk away with the spoils at home tonight, but I have trouble seeing this margin being wider than two goals and legitimately believe Zurich can keep this to a one goal defeat with an outside shot at a "shocking" draw or win.

BetPhoenix does live betting, but they have select games (Milan/Madrid today) .... unfortunately I think the best live betting sites (BetFair, etc.) don't allow US players.

Zurich just fell apart. Three goals in the last 10 minutes, wow and the APOEL match was just a little unlucky not to hit as they gave up a goal to Porto in the 84th minute, got half of that back at least.

Disappointing day with APOEL coughing up a draw late in the match to lose 1-0, but that seems to be par for the course in the Champions League where one day seems to suck and the next potentially a nice turnaround. Need to do homework for tomorrow. First thoughts: Sevilla ML & Fiorentina OVER.

Play #180: [Champions League] Dynamo Kiev vs. Inter Milan OVER 2/2.5 (-113)
Taking the cautious approach instead of going straight for the OVER at 2.5 at plus money here in case these two sides stay deadlocked in a 1-1 type affair. Dynamo have been solid scoring at home with at least on goal in all 8 home dates since their domestic campaign began in July. That includes multiple tallies in 7 of 8, including their home match in CL play against Rubin Kazan. They have also conceded one goal in 5 of their last 6 on their home pitch. Overall, their three CL matches have hit at least two goals and 2 of 3 hit 3 or better. Inter has been resurgent of late with 16 goals in their last 5. Their CL matches have all been draws, 0-0, 1-1 & 2-2 last time to Dynamo. Inter really needs three points today, so I don't expect they'll lay back as anything less than the full three could see them in dire straits of not advancing from the Group Stage in the CL. That should be reflected in a strong starting 11 for the Italians. Inter will certainly need to take it to the Ukranians here to have a chance and if they come out aggressive, I believe both teams likely hit the scoresheet to get to 2 goals and a solid shot that one side or the other will get that 2nd goal needed for a full stakes win. Keep in mind also that Dynamo Kiev has played 19 competitive matches since July and 16 have hit at least two goals.

That was the balls! Inter really came through in the clutch with two super late goals after I was all set to curse life for passing up the Fiorentina OVER. Hope everyone had a solid money making Champions League day!

I have a couple of very basic soccer questions. When a team gets one or more red cards during a game, what happens? Is it like hockey where a player sits out for a couple of minutes or is there a penalty kick or something? Does one or two red cards make it more likely that the other side scores? Thanks.

when a player accumulates two yellow cards in the same match he is then red carded. if the foul is bad enough in the refs eyes a player may also receive a direct red card. when red carded you are ejected from the match and are not allowed to re-enter. the team then must play a man down. any subsequent red cards results in even further men down. a penalty kick is awarded when a foul is commited by the defending team in the penalty box. this may warrant a yellow or red card.

Red cards also result in the suspension of the player in the next match in a competition.

The Israelis pounded the Austrians 5-1 in the 1st leg on their home turf, but that being said this match is huge for both sides. Rapid Wien can jump past Tel Aviv in the Group standings with a win today, while the Israelis can take a big step towards the knockout stages with another win over Rapid Wien. Tel Aviv's three road matches in EL play so far have featured plenty of scoring with the Israelis scoring at least two in each match and they gave up 4 to Hamburger last time on the road. Wien at home has scored 11 goals in four EL matches, multiple goals in 3 of those. They have scored at least one goal in all 9 of their EL matches. Tel Aviv has also scored in each of their 7 EL encounters with multiple goals in 5 of those. Both teams should get on the scoresheet and you'd think it likely that one or the other nets at least a 2nd goal, perhaps more with the Austrian side likely to do so in front of their home crowd. Price shot up while I was writing this from -128 to -142.

I like Fulham +0.5, +1 but the injury issues with Roma make them a little unpredictable at home and it seems too easy to take Fulham with the handicap. I am actually thinking of doing a three pick round robin parlay with all draws just for kicks in the early matches since you get a nice payout if 2 of 3 hit: Galatasaray, Roma & Panathinaikos.
