Play #86: [UEFA Europa League] Tromso vs. Athletic Bilbao OVER 2.5/3 (-114) Plenty of goals in the 1st leg of this tie in Spain with Bilbao coming away with a 3-2 lead heading into today's match. Bilbao is fortunate to hold the lead in this one, needing 2 goals in the last 5 minutes to snag the win. Bilbao's defense is a big question mark heading into this one for most, even more so after they let in 3 goals against Barcelona in Spain's Super Copa competition over the weekend. Bilbao has now given up 10 goals in their last 5 matches overall, while scoring just 6. The Spanish side will need to be aggressive I think in their attack, knowing that Tromso's 2 away goals could spell trouble if Bilbao isn't careful. My guess is the Spaniards will be aiming to equal the Norwegians' two away goals to secure themselves a spot through qualifying. Tromso has been strong at home in the Europa League qualis, outscoring their opponents 6-2 in two matches. They've also tallied 2 goals or more in 4 of 5 Europa League matches. Expecting both teams to get on the scoresheet and one of them if not both have enough quality to get a 2nd goal or more. I'm hoping not to have to wait it out, but be aware that there were four 2nd half goals in the 1st leg & in Bilbao's deciding match vs. Young Boys in the previous round, 2 goals came after the 70th minute. Tromso also has tallied many of their goals in the 2nd half in Europa League play, so sit tight if the 1st half is slow .... but let's hope for goals early & often!

Play #87: [UEFA Europa League] Levadia Tallinn vs. Galatasaray OVER 2.5/3 (-112) The Turkish side has been ultra impressive from an offensive standpoint, netting 22 goals in their last 5 matches overall. That included a 5-0 demolishment of Levadia Tallinn in the 1st leg. I'm not too worried about the Turks letting up in looking at their last round, they carried a 4-1 lead into the 2nd leg against Maccabi Netanya & buried them with 6 goals in the 2nd leg. This is one again that I think Galatasaray will be charged with doing most, probably all of the scoring - but 3 goals for the half stakes win seems likely and four certainly within the distinct realm of possibility.

Well fark. Looks like Bilbao-Tromso are gonna make me sweat. No goals, just about half time. Hopefully they hold to their 2nd half goal scoring ways, but damn ... I don't like it.

Galatasaray Over price drops to -112 based on the lineups I would suppose. Still on it for less juice!

Play #88: [UEFA Europa League] PSV Eindhoven vs. Bnei Yehuda UNDER 3 (-118) PSV owns the 1-0 edge from the first leg of the tie on the road. Kind of surprised this total is this high, but the money has been coming in heavy on the under. PSV's three Europa League qualis have played to 1 goal totals so far with Yehuda playing to 1 goal totals in their last 3 Europa League matches. PSV hasn't allowed a Europa League goal to date & at home, I doubt that will change much. They can play as conservative as they please with the 1 away goal in hand.

Play #89: [Ireland Eircom Premier] Bray Wanderers vs. Derry City OVER 2/2.5 (-110) Bray has been consistent at home, scoring in 9 of their 12 matches - including 5 straight where they have netted 8 goals. They have also conceded a goal in 11 of those 12 home matches, including multiple goals in half of them & 4 straight. Derry City has done some damage on the road this season, averaging over 1.5 goals per match. In their road matches, Derry City has hit for multiple goals 5 times in 12 matches and is tied for the league lead with 19 away goals. They have conceded goals on the road in 7 of 12 with the interesting note that when they do not concede a goal on the road, they are 4 of 5 hitting for 3 goals or more. Bray has kept just one clean sheet at home, so Derry is very likely to find the back of the net with Bray conceding 1.5 goals per home match. Way back in April, these squads played to a 1-1 draw at Bray. In the meeting at Derry City, it was a 2-0 City win. With 10 of 12 home matches for Bray hitting at least two goals, this one looks like it should get to at least two to win back half the stakes & if Derry hits for at least two goals, I think it gets to 3 or higher.

Tough call, the splits (home/away) make it attractive, but since their 2 head-2-heads went to just two goals - it's still risky. For me personally, I'd rather have the lower price on the split line like I have or an ever better price on 2.5 goals straight up.
Just a note, All week, I have been thinking SHAKHTAR DONETSK +1.5 against Barcelona. There's a solid split line of +1/1.5 for +110 I think circulating at some books right now. Not sure if I have the nuts to pull the trigger, but I think this match is big for Donetsk after failing to make the Champions League & settling for the Europa League. Barca will want to win, but they also have their league opener at home in a few days to consider whereas Donetsk is in the middle of their league season and will have less pressure on them.

I like the over. 2-1 is the scoreline I can see, if Barca really comes to play it could be worse.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking....if Barca does come to play, you never want to be on the under! Until something happens otherwise, they are still the top dog in Europe in my opinion. The lineups are out as well:
1 V. Valdes 2 D. Alves 5 C. Puyol 3 G. Piqué 22 E. Abidal 6 X. Hernandez 24 Y. Toure 15 S. Keita 10 L. Messi 9 Z. Ibrahimovic 14 T. Henry
No Iniesta but otherwise that's basically their top team. I'll bet we see Bojan come off the bench too....that kid is nasty. I think we'll see 3 goals.

Play #90: [UEFA Super Cup] Barcelona vs. Shakhtar Donetsk OVER 2.5 (-130) Screw it. I don't have the guts to play the Shakhtar Donetsk line, but I do think we'll see goals in this one. Last season in the Champions League, both matches hit 3 goals or more. The neutral pitch in Monaco should have little to no effect on either squad since they each won on the other's pitch in 2008. Barca scored 2 goals in each of those matches with far less talent than what is on the field tonight & Donetsk will know they can score against this squad & have been in a good offensive groove (15 goals in their last 4 matches). If Shakhtar gets on the scoresheet, I think this gets done with ease. Even so, Barcelona has the quality to do it all if they're ready to put on a show.
