#16421Just another cowardly R member of Congress:
Elise Stefanik deleted her press release about the January 6th Capitol riot which called for the “perpetrators” who violently stormed the Capitol to “be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.”

#16423Rachel Maddow's Jan 6 coverage
1. Cut out the part of Trump's speech where he told the crowd to march to the Capitol "peacefully"
2. Called the riot a "murderous siege"
3. Forwarded the demonstrably false claim that MAGA "terrorists" "bludgeoned to death" a police officer

#16429Every time I see the word ‘patriotic’ come out in a question like this, it really forces me to question if you understand what patriotism *is*. It’s not adherence to a single set of values, it’s not being Democrat or Republican, it’s not being Liberal or Conservative: it’s about participating in your country’s well-being, and doing so with the best of intentions. No matter who you vote for. No matter what your values are: if you genuinely believe that you’re doing the right thing, that’s patriotic, bet Every time I see the word ‘patriotic’ because it focuses on serving your country above all other considerations.
And, honestly, having seen Trump voted in, having seen his intentions to ban foreign nationals from entering the US (bearing in mind that your country is all foreign nationals in the long-run), having seen that he wanted to gut healthcare for those least able to afford it, having observed the racism, the misogyny, the prejudice, the ignorance - you seriously want to tell me that people sharing those values are patriotic?
How is that good for America? Your country was built on the notion of freedom for everyone. Freedom to worship, to speak, to express yourself, to try and live your dreams. How is it appropriate to that vision for America to cut people out, to attack the most vulnerable of your society, to barricade yourselves within your own borders and push the rest of the world away? Those aren’t patriotic values: they’re stubborn, conservative, short-sighted, ignorant actions that will isolate the US from foreign allies, make it internally unstable and, worst of all, set citizen against citizen, because suddenly it’s all about “My Values VS Your Values, and why you’re wrong not to share mine!”. That’s nonsensical - and it’ll destroy the United States as a nation, if something doesn’t change.
Is that patriotic? Hell no. It doesn’t represent what’s best about the USA - it represents the lowest common denominator. It spits on the nation your forefathers tried to develop, and to call that patriotic is just about the dumbest thing I can imagine.Comment -

#16435Trump and the right have entire “news” networks pumping out propaganda and disinformation on their behalf. The left has nothing even close to that.
No wonder so many people think January 6 was no big deal. Must be nice to live unburdened by facts, reality or accountability!Comment -

#16442Trump has seen what’s coming in Jack Smith’s report.
He’s so scared he’s BEGGING AG Garland to block its release, he’s BEGGING Biden to fire Smith (!) and he’s BEGGING Aileen Cannon to block revealing how he stole classified documents in the report!
Also, X with its “free speech” refused to include the politico link in this post. Tried five times. Musk is such a snowflake.

#16444Trump left Biden a country that was in tatters. Not since Herbert Hoover had America been such a fukking mess.
President Biden took Trump's clusterfuck and got America back on track.
Now he'll be leaving the loathsome piece of shit w/ an economy that is the envy of the world.
