IMHO, if we listened less to complaints about this person or that person is too rude, or whatever, and just followed the SBR forum policies that were in place for 15 years and underpinned why this forum was the undisputed #1 in the industry, not only would the forum be more interesting to serious bettors, the entitled complainers who think they should tell SBR how to run their site would stop bothering us all.

Acting like it is mods business if someone offends another poster just emboldens that small group who never stops demanding mods protect them.

I think we should only step in when it is affecting SBR's aims for the forum. And no need to discuss it in public all the time. Ask them once nicely in private and then just ban them if they ignore you. Simples.


Banishing so many posts to The Saloon seems counter productive to me too.

For years policy was to only link the vast majority of posts from PT that also suited the Saloon. Anyone who put some effort to be entertaining or interesting into their post was left in PT and just linked to Saloon if was a "wild" sort of saloon worthy post.

Anyone who made a video always got to stay in PT.

If they just put a sports pick in there as well as whatever saloonable stuff they wanted to say, it got linked, not moved.

Nothing drives good posters away faster than having their posts moved all the time. It feels like they either have done something wrong or are not valued by mods if we keep doing it without explanation.


Anyway, rant over. But felt like a public comment on that was needed. This aint the Rx and we do whats best for SBR, not pander to the loudest complainers and drama queens. Well that's how it should be if we want to make SBR great again. The founding fathers of SBR set the direction and these standards. And they will work again if respected.

In 15yrs of doing this I can tell you for a fact that more posters disapprove & dislike sifting through the nonsense, vs those who say it's ok, and many will indeed leave.
This absolutely makes it a mod-issue.
Why would anyone stick around if they can't simply post daily without being heckled or even consider start posting if they are a new member and read all of it?!?I

Pavy. Think it out. Do you really think SBR cares? If so, why do they allow JJ Gold, who is certainly mentally questionable at best, claim to be a mod? The fact of the matter is that these forums (all of them, not just SBR) are dying out and ANY poster, unless they go completely off the deep end, are going to be allowed to post. SBR has to show the people who pay their salaries that they are worth the money. How many people who actually wager in here use the books that SBR recommends (and gets paid from). How many of these people are losers? The number is big enough to make SBR a profitable expense for the books.
