"Casting another symbolic vote for full repeal of the law without replacement legislation simply distracts us from the work that must be done" Another congressman had this to say when asked about how many times the House voted to repeal the Affordable Care Act. "Not often enough. And there will not be enough votes until Obama is finally repealed". Depending on who you ask, there has not been enough time or too much time spent on this. The interesting point is that both quotes came from House republicans. So this part is clear, there are not enough votes to repeal the law but for some inexplicable reason, the issue continues to come up for a vote despite not having the votes and a guaranteed Presidential veto. So both republican congressman admit that they are wasting time, taxpayers money and basically acknowledging that they are not doing anything productive because of an obsession with repealing a law that the know they cannot overturn. Sounds like they are doing exactly what they were sent to Washington to do. We have bridges falling down, homeless veterans, economic uncertainty, Americans who believe their elected officials are unethical and Americans who believe that the people they elected are doing nothing to address the issues of the day. Maybe it's just me, but I'm wondering if anybody knows or even has some clue as to what the republican controlled congress plans on doing in the next 2 years? It's ok to answer...I can't tell you because they themselves are divided between those who want to do something constructive and those who are completely clueless.
Let's cast another symbolic vote to repeal the Affordable Care Act
