For some reason, I don't think this helped his chances of getting drafted by an NFL team. Should have stayed in the "CLOSET" at least until after the draft. Hey, the Obama's are proud of you and Obamacare will take care of you after all the NFL teams pass on you. What a dumb ass!!!! What team is Jason Collins playing on?

NFL's roster is made out of competition. If he doesn't perform, he could always pull the gay card.

He did a risk/reward on this I think.

A) Do I keep working to get drafted late fourth round and most likely not play much to earn the larger contracts, constant training and so forth?

B) Do I come out now, receive endorsements from a few gay friendly companies and go on a speaking tour and make my millions that way as well as cementing a perpetual revenue stream as being the first openly gay recognizable figure in football?

Soon after the news broke, the experts had him as a 4th rounder. To me he seems a little undersized at 6'2" 255 for a DE. Can he play linebacker?

NEW YORK—Providing further evidence of the hesitancy in professional sports to accept homosexual athletes as equals, a new poll published Thursday revealed that more than 97 percent of NFL players are still not ready to date a gay teammate. “Throughout the league there’s a lot of archaic attitudes toward homosexuality, and I’m just not sure NFL players are comfortable enough to enter a monogamous relationship with a gay teammate,” said an anonymous player who felt that a steady dating situation with a homosexual teammate wouldn’t be worth the distractions in the locker room. “I think most players would be open to a one-night stand with a gay teammate, but I really can’t see them tolerating a long-term homosexual relationship.” The poll also revealed that 50 percent of active players would prefer not to know the sexual orientation of a teammate they were penetrating.
