Poll: Obama tops 50% vs. all comers
President Barack Obama is topping 50 percent support in match-ups against each of the four Republican presidential candidates, a new poll finds.

In a general election contest against Mitt Romney, the president leads his Republican opponent 51 to 43 percent, according to an Associated Press-GfK survey on Wednesday. This demonstrates a significant lead for Obama compared to the December poll when the two were virtually tied at 47 to 46 percent.

Meanwhile, Obama would lead Rick Santorum 52 to 43 percent, Newt Gingrich 52 to 42 percent, and Ron Paul 53 to 44 percent.

While both candidates are trailing well behind Obama, Santorum is virtually tied with Romney as the preferred presidential nominee among Republican voters. Thirty-three percent of Republicans and Republican-leaning voters said they would like to see Santorum seize the party’s nomination, while 32 percent chose Romney. Newt Gingrich and Ron Paul were both the preferred nominees of 15 percent of Republicans.

Romney was shown with the highest favorability rating in the GOP field at 50 percent; Paul and Santorum were next with 47 and 44 percent favorability ratings, respectively, while Gingrich trailed behind at 33 percent.

The poll revealed a significant level of dissatisfaction among the Republican voting bloc about the current presidential field –39 percent of Republican and Republican-leaning voters said they are not satisfied with their choice of 2012 candidates.

The Associated Press-GfK Poll was conducted Feb. 16-20 among 1,000 adults and has a margin of error of plus or minus 4.1 percentage points.

Wow, so you counter Obama beating all GOP candidates with a "Generic Republican" poll? Who is Generic Republican? I haven't seen him at the debates!

          Amazing.

One of the worst presidents of modern times looks likely to steamroll the competition in the next election.

A perfect example of just how bad people view the Republican alternatives. Ron Paul not withstanding, of course.

Pretty bad when even a Republican polling institution has both GOP candidates down.

Republicans are only inspired to vote against Obama, not for their candidates. Typically a losing strategy since it hurts moderate appeal.

so what? You wouldn't give a fuk except for the fact that I don't side you with you. That's a fact. Another fact: what the US does affects me more than any other country does.

Nah, I respect the opinion of conservatives who live here. Since, of course, policies actually impact them directly and they have a say in the process. You, on the other hand, exhibit no knowledge of the United States but stick your nose in our business anyways.

I know more than you probably. Policies do impact me directly. And you don't respect opinions of others here. You are exactly like King Obama, always attempting to deflect from the real issue and not telling the truth.

These numbers are nothing to brag about Dwight. This was not yet explained to the public, I have read a little about it and almost all of it is positive. I think when the American people really learn the contents of this Health Care deal those numbers will change dramatically. Many people will be very happy to learn that their kids will now be covered until age 26 and that insurance companies cannot deny coverage for pre existing conditions and the donut hole will eventually disappear. Educating the public is almost always bad for the R.

From Dwight: so what? You wouldn't give a fuk except for the fact that I don't side you with you. That's a fact.
Dwight, you are 100% spot on the money.

There are literally hundreds of posters who live outside the U.S. who continue to stick their noses in our business and just about all of them are socialists. You'll NEVER see HotDiggity telling them to stay out of our business.

This is par for the course when it comes to liberal democrats.

Dwight, please continue to chime in often as I enjoy hearing from people outside of the U.S. who speak favorably of my country. Unfortunately, liberal democrats like Hotdiggity get offended by people like you and embrace all the other socialist idiots who love to trash the U.S.

I guess that makes sense because Americans (I use the term loosely) like Hotdiggity hate the U.S. every bit as much as the socialist idiots they embrace.

If ObamaCare is as good as you seem to think it is:

                                                              1. Why did the democratic politicians who crafted it (behind closed doors with nary a republican in sight) make sure to EXCLUDE themselves and their loved ones from having to participate in it along side the American public?

                                                              2. Why did Harry Reid and the democrats scuttle Dean Heller's (R) idea of requiring all government employees participation in ObamaCare?

                                                              3. Why are all of the labor unions (Obama's and the democratic party's closest ally) begging and pleading to be excluded from having to participate in ObamaCare?

                                                              4. Why is Barack Obama and the democratic party granting so many waivers to these labor unions (88% of the waivers approved have gone to labor unions) - http://floppingaces.net/2012/01/08/o...-labor-unions/

Educating the public is almost always bad for the "R"? Is this one of the rare exceptions, LOL?

This was not yet explained to the public, I have read a little about it and almost all of it is positive. I think when the American people really learn the contents of this Health Care deal those numbers will change dramatically. Many people will be very happy to learn that their kids will now be covered until age 26 and that insurance companies cannot deny coverage for pre existing conditions and the donut hole will eventually disappear. Educating the public is almost always bad for the R.

Healthcare: I believe that there is enough taxes being collected to cover all it's citizens for quality healthcare. pre existing conditions like you had before is shameful so I agree with you but as far as 26? Ok whatever. seems like a long time to me. I believe that you should be able to take your coverage anywhere you go but that something that I don't have time to really follow closely. I will say this though, no government has the right to make someone buy something. The supreme court will hopefully side with the people on this in June.

Because of the make up of the court they just might. But siding with the people would be allowing this law because in the long term it will be beneficial. When people don't have insurance they normally go to the emergency room which is a huge misuse of medical resources and is very costly. I have good insurance but if I need to use the emergency room for anything I must pay a hefty copay and that is because it isn't for use except for emergencies. Our local emergency room is now very busy because people are misusing it.

If you are so interested in what is fair well ask yourself who pays for the millions of people that use the emergency room for medical care. You and I and the rest of the American public and that is way more unfair than mandating that everybody have health care. Every person in their life with almost no exceptions will need health care, it is not unreasonable to mandate the coverage. It is a non issue Dwight and I think you know that.

When and if the American people ever learn about the contents of this coverage and how it benefits almost all I believe those numbers will change. To be against this law is completely irrational for all even the most conservative, in fact this almost identical bill was first suggested by the Heritage foundation. Just another example how the R are confused and balk at even their own suggestions. It is amazing!
