Analysis: Washington, apart from a 3 point loss against San Antonio, has been bad in the 2nd half. Indiana, apart from a close loss to Los Angeles, has been solid. So naturally, Indiana should have the edge here. Washington is hurting right now, not because of injuries, but because they really don't have any offensive weapons who can take over a game. Therefore they struggle when they can't make stops. Indiana is at full strength, and at home, should win pretty easily.

Analysis: Tulsa is one game away from really turning the corner, but they have been a lot better in the 2nd half despite only winning one game. They are a lot more competitive. Atlanta has also been strong in the 2nd half, even though their wins have been against weak teams. These two teams met in June, a high scoring Atlanta win, 102-92. I think this one will be high scoring as well, as the streaky jump shooting Shock will be able to get their points against this Atlanta team that has been strong offensively in the 2nd half. Not really wanting to play a side here since I think it can go either way, so just play the over.

Analysis: The matchup we all have been waiting for, though the wind has been taken out of the sails a bit since San Antonio got stomped in Los Angeles. The question everyone is asking is what Stars team will show up. The one that got ran off the floor at the Staples Center, or the Stars team that went on that great run which included wins over Minnesota and Los Angeles? I think it will be somewhere in between. The Stars have feasted on weak competition in the 2nd half, and could be in for a rude awakening in Minneapolis. The Lynx are still the top team in the league, and until someone proves otherwise, they will stay there. My model here really shows no value on any side, and the total is too risky to play the over, especially with the threat of the Stars laying another egg. Just sit back and enjoy this one.

But being the only team to lose to the Sky in 2 months? That is a different level of weakness. So will the Sun rebound and be the team they should here? I think they will. Sylvia Fowles is still nursing an injury, and I just think the Sun are going to rebound here. The Sky win was a fluke, and while I really think the Sun aren't any good, they will respond with a win.

Analysis: We all thought perhaps New York had turned the corner and was primed for a better 2nd half, but they laid eggs against Los Angeles and Seattle. Was that the product of just being tired from a long west coast road trip? I think that had something to do with it. Now that they have had rest, and are back at home, they should play better. But Indiana has been playing well, losing only once since the break, a respectable effort at LA. New York should play better at home, but 3 points just isn't enough, Indiana is the better team whether or not New York is well rested or not. I think the value is on the Fever here.

That has to be a big confidence boost going into the game against the hottest team in the league. Tulsa relies on the outside shot, and they will need to be on here to have a chance. And Tulsa embarrased the Sparks at home in the last BOK Center visit, so I think they will be motivated, confident, and ready to win inspite of Liz Cambage giving them the finger.

The Mercury have not covered in any of their 3 games vs. Seattle this year, and while Taurasi being back might change that, I like Seattle too much at home and they will put that all to rest.

Can't rely completely on the mathematical model, gotta do some manual handicapping as well

The model takes into account the whole season, and though it gives more weight to recent games, I think Tulsa is playing a lot better as of late and they also beat LA by 16 at home earlier this year.

Same with Phoenix/Seattle, the model is skewed toward lower scores right now because of their injuries mucking up the past numbers, but now both teams are at full strength so I expect a slightly higher score.
