#75Hey SBR leadership, are you publishing information that is relevant in order to help your membership understand this legal situation and how it applies to the industry? Do you produce these kinds of articles? I think this would help to clarify these types of situations in terms of how the industry, and your membership is being affected. If you do, could you point me in the right direction, im looking for a reliable opinion.Comment -

US has no jurisdiction outside of US. Did Bodog have bank accounts in the US?

More than 75 company bank accounts in 14 countries have been frozen
This is US law, or in this case Maryland law. It doesn't apply in other countries. Do you think a US state law has jurisdiction in Europe? So I would strongly doubt the accuracy of that statement. Be sure to ask those mighty Maryland prosecutors in which 14 countries they froze those bank accounts.Comment -

#87As I said in the other thread, if you read the statement they are referring to to the poker sites that were seized last year: "The indictments follow federal prosecutions last year of three of the biggest websites involved in online poker. More than 75 company bank accounts in 14 countries have been frozen, and authorities are seeking $3 billion in fines and restitution, in that investigation."Originally posted by RealSlimShady

#88Everyone who has been gambling actively since 2006 knows the republicans (actually 3 select republicans) are responsible for the UIGEA.Originally posted by Dark HorseRepublicans are generally too ignorant to hold their own party accountable. If the Democrats plus half the Republicans would so, that piece of corrupt legislation would be overturned in no time.
Kyl and Goodlatte co-sponsored previous legislation and tried to get it passed and were unable to do it. Therefore, they attached the UIGEA to the back of a 100+ page port security bill with the help of senate majority leader Bill Frist at the request of some religious nut whose son killed himself after losing all his money playing online poker.
If the democrats weren't so terrible, perhaps this would have been enough for me to switch to the other side. Unfortunately, there is no reasonable alternative with the democrats being so inept.
I'll never send another red cent to any political organization thats for sure.
Its also important to note that the democrats (Barney Frank) promised to overturn it and had 2 full years where they had total control of government (enough power to pass ObamaCare). There wasn't even the slightest discussion to overturn UIGEA during the first 2 years of the Obama administration.
The democrats don't give a shit about allowing Americans to gamble either.Comment -

#93haha I thought about that earlier this morning when another poster made the same mistake... was this little snippet included in this article in a sly attempt to capitalise on those who might not read every word or be that familiar with the particulars of the poker cases? It's pretty shock and awe and I'd hope whomever wrote the initial piece threw it in there just to beef up their Bodog article but it does make me wonder a bit. I'm probably just being too cynical though.Originally posted by Dark Horse

The vast majority of the public doesn't know about Bovada or bodog.eu and will assume Bodog is gone.Originally posted by shari91haha I thought about that earlier this morning when another poster made the same mistake... was this little snippet included in this article in a sly attempt to capitalise on those who might not read every word or be that familiar with the particulars of the poker cases? #96The art of fear mongering. A numbers game. If the majority of people in a country are too lazy to check facts, the population is easily controlled.
