This is exactly why I don't ever want to go to GA. I love my job and can't do anything else with only 2 years of community college that makes close to the money I make. On top of the money two other reasons are I absolutely enjoy it and I am wayyyy to lazy to do "real" work.

I will say it looks like you love your wife a lot, and even though you might not think you deserve her at times, she obviously loves you and wants to be with you....otherwise she'd be gone! So, play along with me for a second - imagine you come home from work tomorrow, and she tells you she's got terminal cancer. She's got at best 3 or 4 months to live, and she wants to spend them with you, making it count. Could you pull away from gambling? Be honest...that's not a rhetorical question. Some of us couldn't, as awful as that sounds. That's how bad this addiction can get hold of you.

If you don't think you could quit gambling for a few months outta respect your dying wife's wishes, then you probably do need to eventually get some professional help. But if you do think you could quit, then that's good news man! You can start making small steps to manage this. Seriously, set a small goal, like "I'm not gonna place a bet for a day", or "I'm gonna go to the gym before I make a bet."

I know all this sounds pansy and Dr. Phil, but you can get this under control if you start setting small goals, and start "working out" your willpower. As hokie as it sounds it's worked for me. a couple years ago, I'd lost several thousand, and came clean to my wife about it. She was hurt, and I honestly wanted her to leave me, cause I felt like a douche that didn't deserve her. She reminded me that would be the easy and selfish way out, and she was right, so I worked on it. Had quite a few slip ups along the way, but it's under control now. If you can get it under control, it carries over into other parts of your life too. It would prolly help you with getting off the pills, and even losing weight, if that's what you wanna do.

Hang in there man, it sounds like you have a good lady. They're hard to come by. She's worth you making an effort on this.

Honestly, I know no matter what that I would be able to stop if this was the case. As a matter of fact it wouldn't even take that for me to stop for 3 months. Up until this past like October I hadn't bet in over a couple years. I have also gone more than a week here and there in that time without being able to bet. I know without a shadow of doubt if my wife was dying and asked me to stop that I would be able to do it. I like the idea about going to the gym before making a bet since my fat ass is back up to 220 right now. I was 237 like 2 years ago and then got it down to 185 again. Now back to 220 in the last 6 months. HMMM bout the time I have been gambling again. Anyways I don't care how corny the Dr Phil advice is, I appreciate any that you guys give me.

On a side note , I lost my free play of course. Not only did I lose the -450 leg but lost BOTH legs of the parlay. I think I need to start posting any plays for you guys to fade right now. I am ice cold. I did manage to get up to 220 pts this week from poker earnings one day and bought into the high rollers tournament today. I ended up getting 6th for 800 points so I am going to take some of your guys advice and bet for the next how many ever days I can on those points minus some I pay part of a loan back with. I bet 400 pts on Kobe Bryant props and the West +4.5 so go get em boys, bet the East. If there is a prop that Kobe gets hurt in the first quarter, then THIS would be the time to bet it. Update.
Only made $100 last night at work, bring home $70. Won 225 sbr points yesterday on the NBA. all star game. Lost 625 points with 2 bets that lost because of Texas Tech +19.5 whoops. Only have 389 of the 800 points I won Sunday in the high roller tournament. Good news is I have not reloaded into 5dimes and won't at least this week. Hope work is better my last two nights of my week.

EZ, do you trust your wife? Not in a, do you trust her not to cheat, do you trust her drug problem is more in control than your gambling habit? Because honestly your problem isn't that you gamble, its that you seen to have no idea how to run on a budget. I honestly think giving your wife control over the finances would be the best thing for you.

Now I know it sucks to not be in control of your own money, but it honestly sounds like the only way you're gonna get out of your hole. There is no way that someone who pulls down the kind of cash you do should be living from paycheck to paycheck(and the fact that you only had like $1400 in the bank, it sounds like you are.

This doesn't mean that you need to stop gambling, or even that you need to bet small(well that small), you just need to control the amount you lose in a month. Say after rent, food, 5-10% savings and your drugs(which I'm not gonna tell you to quit even though you should for your own health and well-being) you have $1k(that seems reasonable for pulling 75k probably before taxes but if you're pulling 75k after taxes you should have a lot more), you can't be mushing every bet you make, so figure that's 10-20 unit bets a month at $100 a unit. If you lose it, you should be able to trust your wife to not give you any more money, I know it sucks to not be in control, but I think you have to to get your life back.

Well on two of the bills I got an extention till next week and the one that I already had the check done online, well I had just enough in the bank for it then I had to take out $260 out of the bank today to go buy pills. Now if it tries to come out of the bank tonight then I am going to redo the online check and ill have a few more days to come up with that $300 ($35 nsf) if it doesn't come back today I hope some how I bring home $260 from work, I'm here now. Another $200 I was supposed to pay I'm sure it will be okay to pay a little late.

About my wife handling the finances, yes that is by far the best choice. Problem is I've known this for years and I just don't let it happen for some reason. See with this job its so easy to say shit babe I only made $100 today even when I made $800. Then I can make up for the things I do. I've already talked with her many times about her taking over and eventually it will happen but I need to catch up a little first so she doesn't stress about getting caught up like I do now. I know this is the best thing for me/us. Another note she is very very trust worthy. She pretty much is straight up with me. Her pill problem is worse than mine, she takes 10-12 pills a day but I'm the one that goes and buys them so even if she had the money she wouldn't need to lie to me to get more. She wouldn't anyways because I always just say go ahead and get whatever then deal with the stress. She is a dealer too but works at a different casino. So its pretty sad that we have two incomes yet can't get outta the hole. She doesn't make as much as I do at her casino though. I would guess she made $30,000 last year but didn't start the job till May and was part time for the first 2 months. We will get out of this one day and be good.
