#37I live in Vancouver, and used to play it before I started playing at online sportsbooks. The lines are atrocious, to the point that even the increased accessibility and cash payouts do not make for a fair tradeoff. What makes the situation even worse is that the issue of allowing single-game sports betting in British Columbia has been promoted in recent years, but has been shot down as not being part of the image that Vancouver is trying to promoteThey're selling it as taking an ethical stance against gambling because it's an industry that preys on the weak and contributes negatively to society.
Allowing single sport betting at fair odds (where one can actually play with an edge) is immoral, but allowing and encouraging those new to the sports betting industry to play parlays at bad odds is allowed... Fortunately the BC Liberals are on board with the expansion of the gaming industry in BC, so here's hoping that eventually progress will be made on this front.Comment -

#42Canada is split up into 5 seprate lottery zones. They have diferent rules and names. Sports Action /Proline/ Sports Select/ Mise au jeu
BC
Alberta/Sask./Manitoba
Ontario
Quebec
East Coast Maritimes
One big thing to remember on these tickets, is they pay you odds , but they don't return your bet also. So say you bet $10 x 9.00 odds, you are paid $90, not $90 + the $10 you wagered for $100 total.
BC is where I play, and most familiar with. In sports action(BC) , you can pick between 2-6 teams for a parlay.
They have -
Point spread where you get set payouts on spreads,
Oddset, with normal odds, (the only problem is they add a tie for a 3rd outcome to all sports, including baseball)
Over/under basically totals
Props - betting props total RBI's , total strikes, will player get a hit, etc...
For a look at odds and how they compare to Pinnacle odds go here:
http://www.prolineplayer.com/odds/Today_BC.php (they have odds for all Canada zones)
For BC prop odds :
BCLC prop odds have juice of 1.60/1.60 so the odds are usually bad. The exception is they normally put out 120 oddset, and 120 prop bets twice a week. Out of these wagers you can usually find 2-3 that are beating the Pinnacle or Vegas sharp line.
The lottery will shut down games if they get hammerred by the public, but the BC online site http://www.playnow.com takes way longer to shut down the sports odds, if at all. They have left some 25%-30% edges up all day.
If anyone does baseball modeling on props, you can usually find that RBI totals are off by 1.5 runs at times, and they reverse the side which should be favored. This means you may pay odds of 1.70, but are actually at times getting decent odds.
An example on Saturday was Chi White sox was over 3.5 RBI's 1.75 on props, the odds on pinny were over 4 runs -125. you have to calculate the odds that not all runs scored are RBI's as well. this can work for/against you at times. Still this was not a bad bet here. The thing is you only need to find 2 bets that aren't bad.
We had a system last summer when props 1st came out, and we hit them for 11K on baseball. Wasn't my system, I was just a bet runner.
BCLC has adjusted, but props is still beatable even at 1.60/1.60 juice.
For those who say it's unbeatable , check your odds, daily, most days there is no wager, but it still doesn't mean that they are not beatable.
Cheers, KirkComment -

#43Also in BC the betting is very accessible.
You can bet at any convienence/grocery store that sells lotto.
You can bet online at home with a playnow account.
You can bet at electronic terminals, which are at almost every bar/lounge/pub/casino in BCComment -

#46If you are from out of the area and want to bet these. BCLC has by far the most favorable odds.
When Ontario gives 2.20 on a basketball tie BC will give 2.70
When Ontario gives 2.30 on a baseball tie, BC will give 3.00
You have to be in BC to make the wager at a retailer or online. I've done lots of ticket running at 10% of winnings for east coast people..
For Saturday a decent edge ticket would be a 2 teamer oddset:
4pm Tie41 AtlBraves/WshNats 3.25 +0.9edge
530 Tie45 SFGiants/SDPadres 3.00 -0.3edge
pays 9.75-1 odds
Just saying there are edges, and good bets, but you really have to look for them. I make money off of sports action, but only from stale odds.Last edited by beermankirk; 07-16-11, 04:54 PM.Comment -

#53Proline payout for 2 teamer is Even Money...
True odds for a 2 teamer is +300.
So you are basically getting even money instead of +300..
yeah, those are fair odds for the player..

#55The only reason to play the prov. lotto's, is if you do your homework, once or twice a week, you can get better odds than offshore, due to the gov't lotto's bad lines. Otherwise obv. play offshore.
Why not play the best of both if you have the option?
The main thing with gov't tix, is you can cash them instantly for cash the next day.
Also in BC, once you find a bad line you can keep hammering it. There are no liability limits, so you can play the game until it's pulled. A person I know got 21K in on a bad homerun prop last summer. On top of this he got gas station points at petro-canada gas, and airmiles rewards on his CC. I believe it was a25%-30% edge on a homerun prop. It was a 1 teamer as the original prop 1 was a player who was injured, so it would be cancelled and than reverted down to a 1 teamer...
You cant bet them everyday, but the few pros that hammer the BCLC, get them good. I'd like to know of any offshore that would take 20K on a homerun prop, giving odds..Last edited by beermankirk; 07-16-11, 05:51 PM.Comment -

then NBA was even better.. nba totals of 194.5 were 221.5.. vegas totals of 198.5 were 229.5.. and you can mix the sports.. man, we'd take the best 12 games and wheel them, round robin them, just go nuts...very very rare we'd have a losing week. many weeks we'd go 14-0, 13-1. those were the days when gambling was not known yet.. today, too much info on gambling and everyone is aware of lines, #'s, computers, etc.. back then, no one had a clue.. today, forget about it...gambling has become too popular now. the whole world is in the know..
pro line changed all its rules because i heard they got destroyed by a few guys..and lost millions upon millions..Comment -

#57It still does exist in BC, i hit 3-5 edge tix a week during baseball, between oddset and props. Yes, the 90's were great for prov. lotto, especially world hockey...
BCLC had a good 20 NBA sides and totals that were off 20-30 points this season... Like I said you have to look.Comment -

#59make sure you explain that.... for example... 2/2 is not really 2 to 1. it's 2 for 1.. big difference here. 2 teamer is 2 for 1.. which is really even money... and 3/3 is not 5 to 1.. it's 5 for 1.. which really pays 4/1.. i feel so bad for your avg joe who is clueless. he will be broke in no time.Comment -

#63Ive made some cash on proline, in basketball and football (college included) u can get lines that are off by 3-10 points so its a bit easier there however u must do atleast a 2 team parlay and the odds around -150. Regardless, i usually played lines off by 5 or so in a 3 team parlay which payed out 4 to 1.Comment -

#67What were some of those measures?
Football lines are so off it isn't even funny. You can have guys at counters waiting on your instructions minutes before kickoff as you can hammer them on two teamers. Also the problem is they take lines off the board when they know its a loss. They have gotten better at countering winners. So many losers play this it isn't even funny. Square central.Comment -
